Hi all,

Recently my drivers side door has become harder to close, after some poking around it looks like it's sitting a few mm too low and the door pin isn't entering the lock cleanly.

I've had a look at the door hinge mechanism but it's not obvious how/what to adjust to raise the height a bit.

Has anyone done this before?

Cheers,
Jon

Perhaps somebody can confirm:
It has to be done from the inside, where the hinge is bolted to the lower A-pillar. Undo, adjust, tighten. I think it is better done with a helping hand.

Thanks, I'll give it a look at the weekend.

Adjusting the door may mean you have to adjust the striker pin, check carefully befor slamming the door shut. I have a special tool to loosen and tighten the pin if you have problems.

Thinking about it, It may be the pin that's the problem rather than the door. I didn't realise they could be adjusted.

Are they easy enough to adjust or will I need the special tool?

It's easy to do with the tool as it sits in the 2 holes so you can rotate it easily to loosen and tighten with a socket wrench, without the tool you need to grip it with something that might damage it and tightning it you can eaily move it out of position without the tool. I would check the door gaps first and see if the door needs re-alignment, also check if you have a lot play in the hinges. If so I would be tempted to purches new ones.

I've been having a look at the door this weekend. Having raised the door a bit I do think I need to adjust the striker pin. Having failed to make it budge using vice grips and such I think I need the special tool. Has anyone got any idea where I get this from?
