I'm starting to look into fixing the steering rack leak on my T350. Have checked back at some past postings and it certainly seems common for an offside (drivers) hydraulic fluid leak behind the gaiter. So some questions...

1. The car is low mileage 16,000mi so I'm assuming the rack internals are probably little worn (or am I being naivescratchchin). On that basis is it possible to change the end seal only on the drivers side once the gaiter and track rod are removed and with the rack in place?

2. If not, does anything need to be removed before taking the rack out? And does it need to come out from one specific side? I've checked the Varley bible which suggests that coolant and dry sump tanks need to be removed first and then the rack taken out from the nearside, but that's on the Sag. Is there any difference on the T350?

Feel sure some of you guys have been there before....

OK - got the answer that the offside seal is actually inboard of the gears on the steering rack so not accessible with the rack in the car (although the nearside one apparently is). So that brings me back to the rack removal question above....
