Dash LCD dims when switching on headlights

As in the title. ignition needs to be switched off and back on before normal brightness level resumes.
Not sure where to start looking? Anyone else had this problem? I did hear its a known issue.
The lcd dims to the point where it cannot be seen in normal ambient light - very frustrating.
Help.....

Do you have HID xenons or ordinary bulbs?

The LEDS & LCD back light will dim when you switch from off/side/dip lights depending on how you have the brightness set in dash menu options. Every now and again mine goes wibble and needs the set points re-setting. I actually dim mine to about 40% at night on dip lights as the dash ends up too bright for me.

I have the same problem.
I get around this by switching on the headlamps before the ignition.
This somehow keeps the dash lit up.

Apparently its becasue the dash back light is on the same fuse as the headlamps (or so I've been told). I'm planning on having an extra circuit put in to the switch board at the next service to clear the problem.
