Hi all,

I have been working away in Afgan and was a mouth longer out there than i thought the MOT has run out on the car. I normally get it done at the same time as i get it serviced, The garage is about a hour away, I have been told its ok as long as the car is booked in for test, but a hours drive dose not seem to be the closest testing station. Is it still legal?

I would have thought that was fine but if you want to be sure, put a post in the section Speed, Plod and the Law.

It would taken a "Jobsworth" to issue you with a ticket if you got pulled over. As long as you are not commiting any other offense they will just let it go.
Although I once got a ticket for not displaying my tax disc while driving from the ferry home (I was 20 mins away from home when I got stopped). DVLA will only send the tax disc to the registered address of the car so the tax disc is in the UK while the car was in Norway. He checked and agreed the car was taxed but said I should have had someone waiting for me at the ferry port to give me the tax disc!! I told him the fine would be less than petrol for someone to drive down to Harwich with my Tax disc!!

I still have to do this sometimes but until DVLA allow a temp. tax disc or allow you to print it out yourself I have to comit this offense almost every year
