Target Cars BV Sagaris
Discussion
Hi chaps, I've noted that this Cat D Sag has been advertised for many months now, and have to admit it's got me thinking about Sag ownership. I'm thinking this car has probably been the subject of discussion on this forum before, so if anyone can resurrect it from their 'my stuff' and post a link it would be much appreciated
Or, er, whats the general concensus on this particular car? I'm conversant with the TVR Cat C/D discussions etc and would not be adverse going Cat D in order to afford a second TVR..
Cheers,
Chilli

I must say for the money it seems good value, not sure on the colour combo,
I've just bought a cat D Tuscan for a project, it was categorised D because the accessor couldn't ascertain
Whether or not the chassis had suffered damage.
I had the chassis stripped and checked before re powder coating and there were no signs of damage.
If you want a second Tiv I'd say its the way to go ...... Get it painted, change the interior and it'll be more desirable, just my opinion but I do believe if it was a more desirable combo it would have sold a long time ago.
Just left myself open for an onslaught from the green brigade :-)

i looked into this particular vehicle when browsing for my own Sag.
The company themselves are very concerning and the way they deal with potential customers is startling.
i enquired about said car when it was priced at £39k and suggested that i would be happy to take it for the originally priced £33/34k as it had been up for about a year at that point. i was rather offencively told that (despite its CatD history) there was nothing wrong with the car and that it was very under valued.
the next day the price went up to the now current £41,500. needless to say that left a very bad taste in my mouth, as i believe others have felt when attempting to deal with them.
i have since learned that this car was inspected by a TVR specialist (i shall not specify whom) on behalf of a prospective buyer and was told that there was at least £9k worth of work to be done to get this Sag back to an adequate standard. that is not including the "about" £10k full body respray and interior re-trim, required to get away from the vomit green
in conclusion: The car has been up for sale for over a year and a half, that should tell you all you need to know

Speak to Brendan at Concept Performance (formerly Raceproved Body Shop). He knows a lot about the car and I believe was involved in it's original repair as well as the Lambo green paint. I spoke to a few people who have experience with the car, and apparently a lot of the 9K to sort it bill is way OTT. It was based on a washer missing in the rear suspension where a lot of cars didn't have it fitted from the factory and and a non-critical dent in the fuel tank.
I believe you should be more fearful of the seller than the car. I think most people on this forum have thought about the car at some point! Sometimes I think about it to buy and chop the roof into a targa!

I still don't see any reason why not to buy it, it's only a car, if it drives fine, everything functions and you like the colour then go for it. If there are some bits not to your taste then change them as and when you have the money,
There's a similar topic on a red noble just now that has done a lot of track work and so is priced keenly and people are suspicious of it, if I was looking I wouldn't think twice about either the green sag or red noble.

...at last common sense. Ignore the chutzpah, view the car, if you`re happy go for for it and enjoy the saving... plus I like the colour.
i think the problem is that you're not really saving money on it. if you ignore the horrible paint and interior and factor in the 9k quoted by the specialist that needs to be done to get the car into good working order then it brings the cars price up to near other examples currently for sale.
in terms of re-sale no-one will pay the same amount for a CatD as they would for a normal car. so straight away you are losing money on the car before you have even driven it. But if, like most people who purchase cars, you are buying it for pure enjoyment and enthusiast reasons then the bigger concern is the CatD.
Many people are squeamish about CatD cars as you are never 100% sure about their quality. Whilst i do not question Brendan's work as i have heard nothing but great things, there are too many unknowns with a crash repair. the finest work can be done or the smallest damage can have occurred but getting rid of that feeling that a small something was missed is hard for anyone. let alone on such high performance machines that are presumably going to be under abnormal stress (i.e. track days, over exhuberant driving etc...)
oh, i forgot, they also told me that they would only deliver to an airport in London if i wasn't willing to travel to the Netherlands to pick it up. they would not deliver to an airport near me and i would have to pay for this privilege. You could possibly enquire about shipping the car, but i decided at this point to cease my queries and look elsewhere.

I had a look at this car last summer, (I drive past this place quite regular) the colour is better in the flesh, for some reason Target take pictures when it's foggy
Overall the bodywork is in very good condition and the repair/mods are very good (looks like front end repaird), the interior is OK but not dreadful. The battery was dead so it was not started, the saleman was a prick!. I'm suprised it's not been bought to race by now. I wasn't interested in buying it just courious why everyone seems to hate it. I didn't spend too much time looking over it due to the salesman being a knob.
