Hi all.
I my get flamed for this but....
I'm not a big fan of the T cars, just not sure it's a very refined approach to a sunroof, personal feeling of course. So, does anyone have any thoughts on whether a T car can be 'filled in' and turned in to a C car?
Any ideas if it's possible/costs involved?
Some might say it isn't worth it but looking at Zippee's car for example, love the car, amazing engine, lovely interior etc apart from the T factor, if it was a C, I'd be straight over to see it.

Thoughts?

Can't you just sell the T and buy a C? Or am I being too simple... tongue out

Sounds like trying to use a nuclear bomb to remove a small anthill...

From a personal point of view (and not a sales pitch smile) when I was looking at the back end of 2008 I was adamant I wanted a C, I viewed a few but most were pretty dog eared with torn trim, stonechips, kerbed wheels, sagging exhaust mounts, poor window seals, etc. Not anything major but my thoughts at the time were that if people can't be bothered to look after the details then have they been bothered with the important bits - not the basic service but advisories - preventative maintenance if you like!
I then viewed a dark blue T and that looked awful, colour really didn't suit the lines of the targa tops. The silver and lighter colours look better in my opinion as a targa though I'll be honest that the smooth lines of the C are stunning - essentially I got fed up looking at ropey c's and bought on condition instead and it really does feel very airy with the panels off - more convertible like than a giant sunroof.

The Ts do get a little roof whistle over 85-90 (leptons obviously) but nothing too bad, none of these cars are quiet at speed anyway!

That said there are 4-5 times as many C's on the road than there are targas so you should find what you're looking for a little more easily than if your choice were the other way round. As for filling in the holes, they aren't structural so I guess anythings possible - could be worth a chat with plasticman or Adrian at Central TVR for their thoughts on what could be done.

I'm the opposite I have always liked the T more than the C but ended up buying a C and often thought of converting to a T, but in then end realized the only way is to sell and buy a T, but I still have my T350C.
I think in the long run you would be better off selling (or swopping!)

There are very few T's on the road (less than 60); please do not take another one away by modifying a C.
I chose to get a T. Admittedly it took me ages to get the panels to stop whistling at high speeds but now I have, I love it.
More head room when they are in place and wind in your hair when they are removed.

+1
Except the bit about getting the panels to stop whistling.

Its your car and you can do what you want with it. That said in my opinion, I think you would be making a mistake in knowingly taking away a T to convert to a C. As has already been said. There arn't many T's about and to reduce their number would be a great shame.

I agree, not knocking the T's, but i just prefer the C's massively, the whole shape of the car and the lines get spoilt on the T's (IMHO).

Not really sure how fiber glass repairs work, but i guess someone can fill it in! (might be easier to swap for a genuine C though!)

That's funny, I went looking for a T but couldn't find one that I liked enough then found a great C, so I bought it!

Might be worth asking someone reputable to try and source you one? I got mine through str8six and (as I'm sure I don't need to say on the TVR forums) am very pleased with it and would buy another from them!

OP - If you want a C have a look at mine in my profile, it will be for sale in the next week or so as it's currently having it's post winter service.

Str8six know my car very well.

PM me for details.

I never understood why TVR didn't - a) make the panels flush fitting, b) do a "glass" option...

This is my thinking. Others like GTM did a flush panel with the Libra which looked great. Glass I guess might have been hard to engineer with such a curve?

I'm not generally one that likes major changes, but just feel the C looks so much better and they are all in such short supply. Strange that so many people are anti doing a change like this though, but there are so many badly modified TVRs out there now with crap aftermarket wheels, decals etc and people seem to like that?! Such a shame as most looked so much better straight out of the box.

For me, TVR were always running at about 90% perfection on shapes. Mainly the later ones, the T350, Tuscan and the Sag. All amazing profile shapes, some of the best ever made by anyone, but then they added weird detailing like the Tuscan mk1 front which I just can't get on with. Really like the Tuscan Mk2 front but then they changed the back for the worse IMO. Mk1 rear with Mk2 front would be the best combo - anyone done that??
The 350C is near perfection and if they'd made the 350T roof panels flush, It would have been brilliant, surely everyone loves a sunroof if it retains it's strength.
