Does anyone else find the temperature shown in the dash display (Ambient temperature that is) to be very inacurate? When at Castle Combe 2-weeks ago, in snow it said 8 degrees?? It is situated on the front valance behind the number plate.

I ordered a new sensor last week and now fitted, find it to be just as the old one? My garage temperature, last night, measured at 10 degrees and the dash says 15 degrees. After fitting it showed 22 degrees (hand temperature?), then settled at 15 degrees - I then placed a frozen bag of peas on it for 15-mins and it dropped to just 9 degrees??

Of interest, the water and oil temps both show 13 degrees, but they seem to be accurate when running etc.

Is this a "feature" of early Tam's (Jan 02) or the ECU or can I adjust, if at all?? Maybe I shall have to put a resistor in series or parallel and tune it? It then would probably not be accurate on a hot day (Hurry up Spring?) though?

Help please?

Or is it a TADTS??

Many thanks in advance.

I don;t have any advice other than saying that my air temp (2002 Tam) also reads high.

I think it is fairly accurate when the car is first started, but I am normally looking at oil and water temps. When the engine is warmed up, it definitely reads a few degrees above what I would expect it to. I don;t know where it is positioned to comment on whether there are any other warming effects.

Gavin, Tks vm. Like you, I normally "fixate" on oil & water temps.

Sensor, as posted, is on fron valance behind the near-side side of the number plate.

Looking like TADTS ...........rolleyes
