I will start this by saying having a little lad is the best thing ever!........
The TVR is a mint T350c about as loud as you can make them 17k on the clock and I WD the extra white chassis but since the little one 8 mouths ago I have been out in the Tiv once done 1100 miles this year defo costing me more than a quid a mile at this rate.
If I got in the car now and started it up I fall in love with the thing every time and out on the road I do think they are one of the best looking cars on the road especially with a little sag spoiler on its ass.
Is there any lads out there that have gone thought the same thing thinking when the hell am I ever going to use this car again??? I have just got a new job off shore to do am full time daddy day care when at home, is the money better off in the bank? or in the garage covered up in two sheets?
I know whats coming next to a bigger house even more self induced pressure to get rid. If the Tiv went it feels like that last bit of the 20 year old lad in me that got his first quick car a Nova SR has gone leaving the 35 year old with his Astra! any thoughts?

Several child seats will fit, suitable for younger kids. And the fact there's no airbag means you don't need to worry about switching it off.
I used to have a Tamora that both my kids seemed to enjoy. At the time they were 3&5. Now they're 8 & 10 they have to make do with a Tuscan :-)
Trying to remember the brand we had at the time - I think it was Britax.
The high / steep seat backs were never an issue for them. But I do recall using one of the rubber seat protector mats under the child seat. And a face-cloth / chamois under the sharp edges of the inbuilt cup holders just in case they damaged the car.
Obsessive? No - I prefer "dedicated to the cause".
Keep it. On those days that you do have it to yourself it's worth every penny.
Neil.
Edited to add:
I didn't have the TVR when they were very young, but the mamas and papas primo viaggio travel system fitted the other cars we had at the time incl MX5.

I'd say it's important for everyone to have something to let off steam and relax with so my vote would be keep it if possible. I've often wondered at the point of keeping mine (only did 1000 miles between MOTs) but once you're out there in a TiV or fettling it you realise why you keep them.
We bought our Tamora a couple of weeks before we found a baby was on the way. But still have every intention of keeping it.
Same situation as you of work getting in the way, baby makes use difficult, and we are looking at bigger houses.
But it is something to keep. I can hardly call myself a petrolhead if I have a diesel Mondeo and swap the TVR for a second sensible car...

Baby's and TVRs work together just fine... However, I can't see us going on another big European trip in it.

Look at it like this....the T350 will probably appreciate more than any interest you will earn in the bank. More importantly, that lad of yours will cost you so much money that the value of the car will quickly become insignificant.
Final bit of good news is that you have a lad. Girls are even more expensive!

Like you I'm 35 and have a young son (2yr old). I have a Tamora. I tried his car seat in the other day (fits with seatbelt - its a maxicosi) and picked him up from nursery in the car and he loved it! All his little friends (and some of the parents) stared as I burbled in to collect him.
On the way back he even said "faster daddy!" I over took a few cars on the way home. When I got back the Mrs said she was coming the other way and had seen me. Got a bit of a ticking off.
In summary keep it! When my son was younger he wouldn't appreciate it but now he loves it! You've only got just over a year to go before he thinks your the coolest dad ever!

35, 6 month old son, and Tamora. He is off to nursery at the end of June, and I am looking forward to collecting him on occasion in it, with the roof off of course. It is a good country road drive back as well.
keep the car, ive got two little ones and a Sag which is never going to be up for sale, the child seats have fitted fine, just make sure you buy the right seats, now they are a little older 5 and 3, ive bought a chim so the mrs and little banana can follow me and the lad in the sag

I was / am in a very similar boat.
We had first daughter 2 years ago and have just had another girl….so im planning for future skintness
I only used the Tuscan 3 times in the first yeat of daughter 1’s arrival so this year I just thought it best to SORN for a year and then go back to it when I have the time / money to look after it properly.
Glad I did as one young girl is hard work, two is not just double as hard….its double and then some by quite a margin. The second hasn’t been any cheaper either…which is surprising given we still had all the gear from baby1!!! We have just spent on different things.
Coming back to the Tuscan / T350c though – if it goes now – when will you ever have the justification to buy another this side of kids finishing university?! There is always something to spend cash on and personal toys wont be your priority unless you are very well off!!
I have put blood sweat and tears into buying and improving the Tuscan to the stage it is at now, I would be heartbroken to see it go, I also think I would morn it terribly and be a pretty miserable dad!!
My view is that if you give EVERYTHING up for your kids you will begin to lose touch with who you are…and what you personally find fun!! Whilst kids are fantastic and I would never want to go back to not having them… im not ready to give up everything for them if I don’t need to.
That may be a selfish view, many would say that, but that’s me I don’t think I could change if I wanted to!!

I kept my T350 for six months after my son was born. My office is only a few miles away, I work from home half the week, and at weekends we would go out as a family in the family car. It was disappointing to see the TVR go, but was utterly pointless keeping it for the odd erand that I was able to do by myself at the weekend. Although the prices have held really well, no matter what mileage I was doing before and after my son arrived, I was still getting it serviced every six months, which wasn't cheap. I didn't sell it to save money, but just wasn't using it, and so wanted to buy something comfy that the family could use instead of my wife's battered CMax! Mind you, having exitedly pointed out TVR's to my three year old whenever we see them, he would really appreciate it if I owned one now...
Eventually of course, the latest TVR's will start to look a bit tired and out of date, and the prices are not going to hold forever, so if you can't afford to lose in the long term, just get an exciting four-seater instead. My Touareg's not exciting, but it's very comfy, safe and carries the whole gang and all their stuff without moaning!

Thanks for the advice. I was not trying to sell it on here but thanks for the offers. The car looks like it will prob be staying if we need a bigger house well the Bankman will just have to give me more. I got the car when she was 5 years old of a lad with a good rep, I know that every time I have been out in her she's been warmed up plus I am not the hardest driver out there as Tiv's have teeth and I was a lotus driver before.
I think a big thing with TVR's is knowing your car history. Worst case it will be CarKooned for a few years then one big service. plus would love to take the little lad to school in it.
