Now who remembers the two Americans who were going to buy TVR of Mr Smolenski? One was a party organiser and I remember very little about the other..

On Tour last week we fell to talking about the black Sagaris that was sent out to USA for them to use for promotional purposes. Apparently there is a rumour that US Customs impounded it - but does anyone know where it is now??????

It was at RG some years ago, I viewed it with a purchase in mind, but sadly it did not meet my needs! RG did sell it in the end though.

Hi Jasper, I think Chas now at Str8six might know more...I seem
to recall it was sent out there and then came back to Racing Green
for sale. Chris, the other salesman at Racing Green at the time may
also know. Cheers... Well done re the milage on your motor BTW!

It was me that bought it, well put a deposit on it, but sadly it never returned from the states. The permit/paperwork wasn't completed properly from what I recall and it was impounded. I enquired again a couple of years ago and was told that it was still out there impounded somewhere.

I think TVR GmbH just wrote it off the books in the end.

You never know in 20 years it'll probably reappear as the lowest mileage sag in existence.....

Yes I was told it did return.

I can confirm that this car did eventually return to Racing Green TVR and its owner did commission Racing Green to sell it on his behalf. The current owner will, I am sure, declare his hand in due course - if he wishes to do so.

As I had a deposit on it for months, I would've expected first refusal if/when it came back to UK. Boo hoo....


It wasn't Dom's car used in the call, it was definitely the one being talked about here.
