T350 heater amplifier unit problem

I had a problem with the blowers in my T350 where they worked intermittently, although if you wiggled the connection they'd work for a while. I cleaned up the connectors and wrapped the xposed wires in tape and it seemed to resolve it.

Then the unit stopped working and no amount if wiggling would cure it (you can tell I'm a techincal wizz can't you?). Anyway, with the help of a friend who is more gifted we took the unit out and identified that one of the pins in the board was showing signs of melting so we cleaned it up and resoldered it.

The fans do work now but they are on all the time, regardless of whether the switch is on and the switch doesn't regulate them either, low or high, the blowers are on full.

Any clue as to why, all circuit paths seem complete. With a circuit tester we identfied the live pins and the connector has two lives in but one isn't live when connected, only at the connector if you see what I mean?

Anybody have a circuit diagram for the amplifier unit or any clue as to what has changed for the new fault to occur? Can this part be replaced from something from another car or is it TVR specific? I know from another thread that the connector can be the problem but I can't see how it's causing this?

I'm just about to do some re-wiring for a mate due to the same problem with a wire and melted plug.

That seems to be about replacing the vents with aluminium ones - is this what you meeant to post?

Don't worry about it At least it was about heaters!

I read the Tamora thread but I've discovered the policy for buying parts from Farnell has changed. You now have to buy minimum quantities, not minimum value, so to buy the parts for one connector comes to about £90 in total.

I may try direct connections to the pins on the board to see if I can eliminate the plug at least. At the moment I'm running with no fans at all so no matter what I'm not going to be worse off.

Paul Smith can sort the Amp out if its knackered cost me about £65 I think for a new board connector & caps. You can buy the pins from Maplin they are nout special. I am sure Paul has the loom end connectors as well if he has the bits that are soldered to the board.
