Much to the amusement of friends and onlookers, my drivers door sometimes 'freezes' and won't open using the internal or external buttons and so I have to clamber through the passenger side. I guess it's the door ECU. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? It seems they are not made anymore? Anyone else encounter the same problem or know where I could source a replacement ecu? Thanks.

You could send it off for repair. I've used Paul Smith for my door ecus.

I would start with exchanging the left and right Door-ECU to be sure that it is the ECU.

Save the embarassment, use the manual pull handle!!

As said try a swap of door ecu to check, then check the door loom plug for corrosion

Thank you all. I will try the swap to make sure. How do I manually open the door (sorry but I didn't even know that was possible).

Don't forget to shut down the side window a little bit as it is plugged in the upper seal and could be damaged forcing the emergency exit!

I have just had the same thing on my car , ended up replacing the wiring from the mirror through the door , apparently the quality of the wiring used is not the best to say the least , replaced job sorted .
