Improving radio reception

Has anyone put an external ariel on their car? If so, suggestions on what type/where from? I don't listen to the radio much at all but lady Targs likes it (and it takes her mind off the speed I may or may not be doing).

I'm aware that the lovely lines of the body could be ruined so I'm thinking along the lines of a little one on the back of the roof?

Suggestions?

I put a small booster ariel to my inside back window (very small, works fine). Sorry, can't remember the details of it now - it is also used for the TV reception.
