does anyone know how this is wired? (tam)

does the dash ecu control the shift lamp from the rev counter input from the engine ecu, or does the engine ecu put out a shift light trigger?

thanks

Now, I had a conversation with Paul Smith on this a while back as we are going to be doing a new dash project with Brendan. From memory it is the dash ECU, but it was about a month or so ago, so I might be wrong.

Since the shift light settings can be adjusted in the menus accessible on the dash display, I assume it is nothing to do with the engine ECU. Does that mean it is therefore the dash ECU?

if it is controlled by the dash ecu, that would explain why i cant make head nor tail of the wiring diagrams,

they suggest the shift light is run from the engine ecu, but there doesnt seem to be a control mechanism to adjust the shift lights in the engine ECU,

Thinking about it logically, surely the engine ECU just feeds a rpm signal to the Dash ECU , which then uses it to drive the tacho (both analogue and digital) and also switches the shift lights on at the preset values?

Therefore, ( and remember this is only me thinking how it might work) there should be only be a single wire from the Engine ECU to dash ECU for the RPM????

There is a tach signal. But also a couple of unidentified wires , but so far seem to not be needed for my project.

I suspect the dash ecu controls the shift light, but it could have been the engine ecu...

I see what you mean re: the wiring, just looked in the Sag manual and there does seem to be a tacho and a shift lamp wiring indication.
