Hi All
Didn't really think this day would arrive but after four and a half years I am seriously considering selling the Sag.
What sort of value do the collective think the following spec Sag should be listed at on the classifieds here, there seems to be a fair variance in whats on offer out there. Suggestions of £4.50 and 2 buttons will be politely laughed at
If this contravenes any rules or the like then please let me know and I will remove the post.
2005 Laser Blue with 2 tone grey interior, Sparco seats as would have been fitted to the next run of Sags, running at just over 49,000 miles.
FSH, next minor 6K due in 2000 miles, with the dealers for the first three years and from then on with TVR Power, Dom has given up trying to sell me a rebuild as the engine remains as strong now as when I took it to him the first time.
As the mileage will suggest it's a used one but has had anything needed carried out but being a car that has been enjoyed it does suffer from chipping behind the wheels and some on the nose.
All helpful suggestions appreciated as like with most things I am good at buying them but rubbish at moving them on.
Thanks
Kev

Hi Alex
Definitely not bored of the Sag but want something that the wife will drive as well, she takes her diesel bimmer every day even though the Sag is sat right next to it in the garage. Part ex on the cars I have looked at so far has been laughable, one performance car specialist!!! Tried to suggest that the Sag booked at a max of £22,000 but he would do me a favour at £30K. A lot seem put off of doing a deal due to the specialist nature of the car.
Thanks for your reply Alex, probably a bit higher than I was thinking but the extra would help on the next purchase.

Hi Guy
Thanks for what should be a good suggestion but having had 3 Tuscans (last one being reflex charcoal spookily enough) a Griff, V8S and an S2 over a period of around 20 years the good lady has driven them a grand total of 3 times. One of those was only a total of 5 yards as well LOL. They just don't appeal to her unfortunately.
The Tuscan, T350 and other TVRs certainly deserve to be the next big thing and I know I am going to be selling an appreciating car to get into one that depreciates.

Hi Nigel
Probably will be a hard day but needs must sometimes. Most likely to be a Aston Martin Vantage 4.7, Lisa has already driven ones that I have tested as many times in the last 2 weeks as she has driven the TVR's in 20 years.
Other possibility is the Audi R8 which is the better drive of the two with the magnetic ride but doesn't have the quality feel of the Aston.
Decided I must be getting old as whichever one I end up with will probably have the automated manual box.

£4.50 and 3 buttons?
I'd guess the thing to do is have a look at other cars for sale, ask yourself what you'd like for it compared to others on the market and then put it up. Might be worth speaking to a few companies to ask what they would buy it off you for, that way you know where it needs to be to make the hassle of a private sale worth the hassle, see if that ties up with what you think it's worth.

Thanks for the replies gents, have to say there does seem to be a fair bit of variation in the ones up for sale and not many are private sales, plus like most of us I'm sure I think mine is a much better looking one so has got to be worth more LOL. Will give the likes of James Agger a try to see if that is a viable option. Like the potential name change Ian but would need to find someone willing to take £6 and 10 buttons for a nice 4.7 Vantage.
If you ignore the RG Sag's that sold ages ago, yet RG seem to like recycling the ad's every few weeks, Sag's just don't seem to be shifting at the moment from what I can see.
I personally would wait until the market picks up again and supply dries up a bit. I would imagine most dealers will only want to do SOR at the moment, and that doesn't particularly help you. Private sales seem to struggle a bit, I'm guessing as a lot of would-be owners poss need to finance the car, but can't do it through a private sale.
I'll give you 40 bags for it
Good luck with it anyway!

Blimey Kev - that's a post I never thought I'd see from you
I can't comment on the Vantage as I never tested one but before I almost sold a couple of months ago I tested bith the V8 & V10 R8s as you know, they are absolute weapons across country and round the twisties they're so much easier to throw around than the TVRs (Sag included). They're well built, sound good (though not in the same league as our cars) and very easy to drive, this was the biggest appeal for me as I wanted something the wife would also drive.
Inside it is a quality place to be BUT didn't feel as special as the inside of the T-cars, better built obviously, but more "German" if that makes sense - nice but clinical.

If you can take your time selling it, take your time. Otherwise you will be just losing money. As suggested SOR is a good way to go, but will take time. You can just sell it outright to some TVR specialists, but you'll have to expect a sizeable cut in the money you get.
All depends on how quickly you want to get your hands on something else. Remember the thread that Matt posted when he was looking to sell his outright to a dealer.

Hi Tony
Wasn't a thread I ever really saw myself writing either, R8 is a super drive and if that was the only reason for looking to change I would be buying one. Have been put off by the cabin though, doesn't have the feeling of what was originally a £90K car and all the examples I have looked at have had very tired and baggy looking drivers seats considering they have only had fairly low mileages. Just doesn't give confidence about how they will stand up to the miles.
The Vantage isn't as quick, although it doesn't feel much slower, but will be enough for me these days I think. The cabin seems to have a much better feel to it and even ones with high mileages look very fresh still.
How is everything going with the new engine?
Hi Alex
Which thread is the one you are referring to? Don't recall one but then memory isn't what it used to be.

Hi Kev,
Assuming a private sale I would say about 48-50k. That is mostly because of the high mileage and lack of engine rebuilt.
If you are getting bored of the car, another possibility would be part-ex it or put an LS into it to bring it back to life again.
Hope that helps, A.
I would have thought that the mileage alone would bring the price a fair bit below that, with the private sale and lack of rebuild bringing it quite a bit lower. Bearing in mind that, as other posters say, Sags haven't really been shifting lately, you may even do well to get £40k, assuming it's in good nick other than the chips you mention (as I'm sure it is Assuming a private sale I would say about 48-50k. Yeah, I won't quibble with that. I was probably being a bit too generous. But I think 40k is a bit too low as well. Maybe 43-46?
).Good luck!
But low to mid 40s, what's a grand or two between friends
