opening drivers door problem
Discussion
anyone had any experience with fixing a fault on the switch under the wing mirror before?
a couple of weeks ago it was a bit temperamental, sometimes it would work, sometimes not, however this weekend its decided not to work at all, you cannot hear the door solendiod operate when pressed, the button inside the car works fine, so assume it may be a dirty contact in the wing mirror.
anyone know how to remove this to inspect the inside of the switch in the mirror unit?

Can't really help too much on this, my Tamora started doing much the same, you could just hear it trying to drop the window before stopping. I removed the trim to get at the solenoid in the B pillar and checked all the terminals were clean, same with the ECU.
That seemed to cure it for about a week, then it played up a a couple of times again, the last two or three weeks its been perfect again, which makes doing any fault finding impossible.
I was about to switch the ECUs to check it wasn't that.
Also read that often the fault is on the earth from the solenoid so was thinking of running a new earth direct from the solenoid to the chassis/ground.
Useful bit on this in the Varley book.
Interested to hear any faults/cures you discover.
Cheers,
Mick
