Has anyone ever had a carbon fibre Tamora roof made? The only reason I ask is the wife struggles with the weight of the panel when removing and replacing. I know it's not heavy by any means but I thought I would ask :-)

Hi Matt,
I have a Tam with a Carbon roof from new. Ordered for the reason you mention, GRP unit too heavy.

Manage the carbon roof by myself no problem. smile

Another option is the 'Surrey' folding roof from http://www.cambria-cirrus.com/

Got mine last week, really easy to use and when folded up can slot in the groove at the bottom of the boot, or simply on top of whatever you have in there. Great option for touring.

Looks like a good idea for touring or days out...what sort of cost are they? What's the fiddle factor like? How good is the fit?

Give Colin a ring at http://www.tvrssw.com/

He has a mate who does carbon fiber mods. I was thinking of getting my seat backs done in carbon fiber, and he can do it, so I think he would be able to do a Tamora roof aswell.

That is an interesting option. Thank you

The Surrey roof certainly isn't cheap.
£485 - Roof
£49.50 - Roof Bag
£38.50 - Carriage
So total of £573

However in terms of removing the faff factor and being able utilise the boot fully whist still having a roof you can easily put on then i think it's worth it.

The fit is pretty good (I'm away for a few days but will try to post some photos when i'm back) and with the roof on there's probably less wind noise than with the standard roof. It also survied being hosed down without leaking, so also better than my hard top!

To fit is really easy.
1. Remove from bag
2. Fold out roof, extend the strut and lock in place
3. Fit as you would the normal roof
4. Rotate the strut to extend until it's a tight fit

I'm off round Spain for 2 week next month so that's the main reason i went for this option, although to be honest i don't expect i'll get the hard top back out until the autumn/winter

Jeez that is taking the piss I think my common sense says I'll stick with a bit of faffing about. I did two weeks touring Europe with a passenger in 2011 and didn't have too much hassle a prt from the hailstone storm on the Stelvio pass it was an wet inconvenience but not £600 worth! Sorry Chris but I'd rather put the money towards another holiday.

No, so I'm not sure why it's being mentioned on this thread.

Well they definately do, either that or I've lost the plot!

I mailed Roger to see if he could do one for the Tamora and he said they'd been making them for 2 years.

News to me I've never noticed he'd changed his advert in Sprint.

I do wish people would inform the editoral team of new products.
