Hello again, more advice please! My newly acquired Tamora needs a seat bolster repaired and local trimmers are having trouble matching the champagne coloured vinyl. As all the vinyl is going a little hard it may be best just to have the seats fully recovered in leather...

I'm also considering fitting heated seats, can anyone recommend after market elements which fit a Tamora seat?

I'm also keen to make the seats grip me better, I'm thinking of Alcantara centres but would ideally like a narrower seat, any ideas? Thanks.

you are better taking the seat to someone like dave the trimmer, who will make the trim to your spec, and pad to fit you.

it isn't cheap though, a full leather seat retrim is probably £7/800....

any trimmer will be able to get hold of aftermarket heat pads...loads of kit car guys have them fitted in cobras etc (i know i did)....

Would probably be worth contacting alex gray225 on here, while I give him a fair bit of ribbing he will be able to offer a lot of advice on this type of mod.

Thanks for the link, I live near Southampton so DC Trim are a long way from me. Although a full retrim is pricey I have been a bit taken aback by the price to repair the bolster anyway as, unusually, the bolster cant be repaired in isolation on the Tamora seats.

DTT repaired a split bolster on a seat for me, meant removing the fabric,(ripping the seat apart, undoing glue etc) replacing the bolster and refitting.....it was cloth not leather, but it wasn't more than 50 quid....

Dave the Trimmer isn't DC Trim. He is based in Milton Keynes.

He has just fitted heated seats to my Tamora - I think it was about £170. By this I mean he added heating elements to the existing seats!

He also did a partial repair to both seats, replacing the surrounding section on the back (both of which had tears). This was a lot cheaper than a full re-trim (but I wouldn't go so far as to say it was cheap!) The match is perfect.

So I can't immediately see why the bolster section alone couldn't be done.

Jev.

Thanks for clarifying. The bolster can be done but on my seats it is a continual panel which goes from one side of the seat to the other, whereas in most cars there is a split between top and bottom on each side of the seat. Both trimmers I've seen have quoted several hundred to do it in vinyl due to the labour costs. I would also want the seat centres retrimmed in Alcantara too and so the price was not far off a full retrim. I'll give Dave the trimmer a call... anyone have a number for him?

Googled Dave the Trimmer and surprised to find that is what his company is called! Have left a message so we'll see what he suggests

As my old mate Kev comments above, I've done this work already to my car. If you want any help, feel free to drop me a line. I worked with Dave to do my changes, so he is familiar with most of my designs and thoughts on the subject.

Dave is away on holiday this week, but is back next week.

I'm also unavailable this week but will be back in the UK next week if you want to chat.

Back to another presentation now...

Thanks Alex, Dave from DC Trim called me back and I look forward to catching up with Dave the Trimmer too. Whilst retrimming the Tamora seats is probably the easiest option I am keen to hear if anyone has used different seats in a Tamora, I'd like something giving more support ideally.

The TVR sparco seats are all used up now as I bought the last pair for a project on my Sag, HOWEVER, there will be an alternative new seat design available in the near future - supposedly better than existing sparcos or T seats.

Not sure when, but someone I know is making a new set of custom seats for the T cars based on a new design that they will be offering through Dave T. If interested, mention it to Dave when you speak with him.

Else I can give you the details when I know they are available.
