Because of what looks like pressure between the seat chassis and the central tunnel, the casing to the lock has broken. This may be what's been making it difficult to fasten, but I need to replace it to be on the safe side.

There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of wiggle room down there. Does anyone have experiences of replacing this?

When I went to test drive my car the seat belt wouldn't work and further inspection showed the fastener was broken. The garage took one from another car and made a swap.
Seat out is the only way!
However, they changed the buckle in less than 20minutes.

This seems to be a problem on T350,s on the one I purchased recently the buckle is so close to the seat and just above it and difficult to put the clip in the leather on the seats have split so much that I have booked it in for a re -trim
I have purchased the very expensive items below on the link and it is now so much easier to put the clip in the buckle with out all the fumbling about and shame others did not do it or I bet the leather would still be in good nick,

Wonder how many will buy them, trust me worth every penny

Thanks - what I suspected would be necessary. Still, good to see that there's a better option now.

Finally got the seat buckle off and replaced it, after having to saw one of the blessed nuts off so I could get the seat out. Daft bolt heads inside the seat rail is all I'll say - hex heads would have been a whole lot more sensible.

Anyway, rant over. I had to buy an entire seatbelt assembly from Racing Green to get the seat buckle, so I now have a new, unused seatbelt reel etc that is going spare if anyone wants to email an offer to me.

Take care with selecting the extender it needs to be E4 certified and the buckles vary.
Pal used type A on his 350 so I ordered some Type A for my Tam and the tongue didn't match the originals so they didn't click home so were no good. On checking type B measurements they don't seem to match the pattern on the car ether.
I guess as usual TVR the original equipment came from where ever they could get supplies.

As the extender doesn't relieve the pressure point between seat and buckle casing I've not bothered with it. A longer (ie what a lot of other marques use) stalk would have been better.

Hi

Sorry to come into this a bit late as you have already bought a complete unit from a steeler.

When mine cracked and failed, after some research I found a lap restraint kit whose buckle matched. This cost less than £15 delivered and I just used the buckle.

I also sent all the measurements to a company who sent me a part number back but I had already sorted it. Sure there price was around the £20 mark.

When I get on my home PC will search my mails for the details and post.

Cheers. Lee.
