I am getting a little tired how bad the tamora runs when it's cold so I am thinking about going down the omex option. Can anyone tell me what they think about the before and after driving experience. I see the omex had a cold start map, does it make it much smoother ?
Many thanks
Matt

Out of interest are you looking at specifically Omex or will you consider the new MBE or Syvecs?

How does it differ from your sagaris. Was the sagaris running mbe ?

Would not rule out syvecs but it's a standard engine and probably would not need it. For some reason the sag was so much better running from cold and never ever thought it needed it.

I'd find the reason why it's not running as it should before splashing out on a new Ecu as you might get the same problem

It shouldn't be running badly when cold with standard ecu. Chances are you just need a throttle balance/idle, it can make a massive difference, like a new car.

And get it checked for other issues. Mine had a lazy lambda.

Even after a service a Heath check it's still lumpy when cold. Fancy a little more smoothness a well.

I'd say warn throttle spindles is the issue you have not the ECU, by the way Omex is not much better than std MBE so don't waste your money I did extensive reasearch on so called upgrade ECU's and the Omex from RG was overpriced for what you got. Buy a more advanced ECU if that's the way you want to go.

Oh in that case I'd move onto the next cheapest probable cause/solution... I'd be looking for worn spindles like Getsis suggested. Mine are a bit worn but hold onto a tune long enough that I dont need to go there yet.

If you are going to get the omex and a new harness deal with them direct
Don't bother using a company south of the midlands

if i may chuck in a little basic ecu mapping

when you are setting both cold start and idle you should get the engine running smoothly with the IAC (idle air control) disconnected, you should be adjusting fuel ignition timing, if the engine is cold coolant temp comp,

obviously the throttles and injectors should be in good shape

the IAC is only introduced at the end,

your TVR (stock MBE) doesn't have this but adding it to get around another problem might not work
