Where to buy a cigarette lighter trickle charger
Discussion
Hi,
Can anyone tell me where I can find a trickle charger that plug straight into the cigarette lighter? I thought it'd be easy to find, I remember my dad having one 10 years ago.
Also, is there any special TVR things I need to bear in mind when leaving the car to stand for a month at a time?
Thanks,
James

I know this may sound silly, but I would worry about leaving a charger costing so little plugged into my car in the garage indefinitely.
I don't follow your logic? Someone who "markes-up" their product is thought to be "safer"?Edited by chris watton on Friday 25th October 12:16
A £5 charger or a £500 charger have the same requirements when sold with CE markings - indeed what I read with the Aldi charger and its 3-year guarantee is somewhat more robust than the £45+ Accumate types on the market.
I haven't heard Trading Standards being involved in garage fires or product recalls from Aldi or Lidl products??
Yup, sounds silly !!

You could well be right, and it's me being a little too anal and over protective. I think my aversion to 'very cheap' stuff comes from opening up a rechargeable drill bought from B&Q a few years back, and being gobsmacked by the shocking state of how the inner components were (or weren't) attached. I assume the sample they used to get the CE markings was first rate, but I'm damn sure my example would have failed the tests they use.A £5 charger or a £500 charger have the same requirements when sold with CE markings - indeed what I read with the Aldi charger and its 3-year guarantee is somewhat more robust than the £45+ Accumate types on the market.

CE markings are applied by the manufacturer to confirm they comply to certain standards.......however form and function can be very different.
dont forget all that junk toy stuff that comes over from china at xmas is all CE marked.......doesnt mean a toss.
however, i have an aldi charger, not at all worried about it in use.
