I just fitted the Pioneer DEH-X6600DAB into the Tamora. It looks and sounds great and because of the custom colour option you can match the dash/button green exactly. The only issue is a bit of a whine it's picked up that increases with revs so will have to fit a suppressor. The head units are a bargain at Halfords at the moment at £109.

Cool! Did you fit it yourself, and is the aerial the flat windscreen mounted type? I had this unit fitted to my wife's MG and it's great (she changed the colours to red, to match the car), good DAB reception too.

Yes I fitted it myself and I'm very pleased with it. I need to get the DAB arial in a better place but don't want it on the screen so I have mounted inside the dash but the reception is not perfect yet. Also I have a bit of a whine from the alternator so will fit a suppressor.

TBH, the windscreen aerials are very unobtrusive and give the best reception, in my experience. I can hardly tell it's even there on the MG screen (left hand side)

I think I had the aerial in the boot in my other Tam, and never picked up any reception...

I've come to the same conclusion re the arial so will fit it on the left when I get the chance. Just spent an hour trying to get rid of the whine but the suppressor didn't do anything. Didn't have it on the old unit!

I fitted mine against the rear bulkhead rather than the screen, running the wires along/under the centre tunnel, this also allowed me to pick up an earth for the aerial off the brake pin switch. Remember, unlike std FM aerials which can be mounted vertically OR horizontally a DAB aerial will only work correctly when vertically polarised.

I have managed to get rid of the whine. I run RCA cables to the amp in the boot and these where picking up a ground loop. Fixed by spending £14 in Maplin smile
