T350: Hella Front Light Unit loose
Discussion
I'm currently refurbing the wheel arches and removed both lamp covers to replace them with new ones. On that occasion i changed the standard H7 bulbs to H7 Nightbreaker Unlimited. I noticed, that the dipped light Hella unit on the far side was kind of loose and investigated further. Unfortunately i still don't have a clue.
Its not the connection of the rear reddish part, which houses the lens and the bulb, and the fixed part glued to the nose. Seems that the problem lies somewhere between the fixed part and the three screws to adjust the unit itself. Obviously you cannot fix the thing with the adjuster screws.

(Please ignore the sikaflex-massacre, thats been fixed already...
)
So, either its a problem with the fixed part coming off of the cars' nose or the adjuster screws having to much tolerance in their respective threads. Or something completely different...
Anyone got what i'm talking about and ran into this before and give me some pointers?

If the little black plastic cups that the adjusters screw into are loose in their fitment to the metal ring, this is probably where the play is. A little epoxy or similar carefully applied securing the black plastic cup to the metal ring will prob firm things up.
Having said that how loose are they. They may well feel a little loose if moved by hand but left on their own i bet they are not so bad that they will move around.

Ian,
thanks for the reply. I also thought that some kind of glue or silicone would fix things, but i wasn't too sure where to apply. You need to make sure that the units are still adjustable.
When i try to move the unit around a bit you can clearly see it move around also from the outside. So i guess if i go over bumps the left light will probably blind the oncoming traffic. Not to mention, that the TUV will most likely not be amused by this.
I'll try to investigate further. But i would appreciate any other tips or infos.
