Right the drive to work was great in the sunshine.

The drive back was not so good.

Just as I got to the car the heavens opened, heavily. So got in the car asap but was soaked (needed to get some stuff in the boot).

Started to mist up almost immediately and so I turned on the blower. Nowt, nothing, less blow than a Countach a/c unit. I'm sure it was working before. I'm after help to fix it. Where do I start. Where's the fuse board? Is this common or is it actually a crap system.

I'm waiting for the seller to forward me the service books (which I think include the 'Bible'). If it doesn't I'll need to source one.

Secondly the passenger side wiper has either stripped it's taper or just come off. It appears to be fouling the bonnet so I'll file a groove in it so it stops catching (assuming I can fix the wiper.

Other than that, it was quite fun in the wet. Not a lively as I'd feared. Still fancy an S3C as a practice car though wink

The fuse board is up under the dash sort of above your feet as you sit in the car. Its a pain to access but here's the layout. Good luck!

I went through the same a few year's back - just had a CR box fitted and on the way home, the heater decided not to play ball - not good as it was both icy and foggy, couldn't see a damn thing.

It took a while to get to the cause of the problem, the heater/blower set up for these cars is so complicated for such a simple function. In my case, it was the ECU at fault.

I this as an intermittent problem on my Tam, in my case it is loose wiring which is found above the passenger footwell. It is worth turning ignition key so that fans should be on and sticking your head into the footwell, look up and you will see the wiring. I am not technical so appologies but there is a unit that has 2 cylinders about 3/4 inch diameter, check the wires there and you may find the blowers start like magic. I always find it happens when it has been wet but no sign of moisture in the area. Just a TVR thing I think, my mechanic just says it neees a wiggle. Hope that helps.

No need to file the bonnet just adjust the bonnet striker so its sits higher up and clears the wiper arm (undo the two bolts and drop it 10mm). I would suggest the blower not working is more likely the heater amp than the fuse, if you look up under the dash in the passenger footwell, its the square box with the 2 caps on it. Give the wires a wiggle and see what happens. It will either be a poor connection or the unit needs refurbishing. The connectors have a tendency to melt as the wiring is not rated high enough for the load. Unplug it and see what state its in. Paul Smith can do the refurb at a not too expensive cost, About £80 IIRC from when I had mine done

Another update;

First, the blower was a loose connection. Waggle the connector and it came straight on.

Second, the bonnet. Adjusted the lock pin but it didn't sit level. Need to adjust the hinges slightly to get the bonnet flush/level.

Cheers guys.

That's great news! The car is nigh on undrivable without the blower this time of year.

I had to fix my heater controls today also. They just stopped working but as you say a little jiggle fixed it.

Well done - when the heater fan on the Sag packed up first thing was to check the fuse. Unfortunately Mr Fumbly here pulled the next door one which is the immobiliser. Found the loose fan plug ( in passenger footewll and kicked out by a passenger) but then had to jack up car, take off wheel, pull the battery box to purge the now very confused immobiliser.

Grrrr!

You don't need to disconnect the battery, I will email you how to do it for future reference.

You guys that have dodgy heater amp connections, whilst a wiggle might fix it in the short term you need to sort it properly before it melts the loom plug to the PCB header on the amp. A poor connection will contribute to the generation of excess heat and it will melt and be more of a pig to fix

I think the answer may be in this thread started by me: like Shep says probably the amplifier unit.
