Hi all,

I went to take the car out today,It fired up fine, ran it up to temp on tick over, pulled the car out of the garage. Turned it off and went to lock up the garage. It Restated fine but then it wouldn't tick over. I fired the engine up again and again it wouldn't tick over, then it wouldn't start but would turn over, the battery was getting flat as the alarm system startedto have a panic attack.I turned the ignition off then tried to restart & nothing, flat battery so I hooked up the Anderson via the spare battery it fired up but the engine still wouldn't tick over.I fired it up again cought and held the revs at 1500rpm but it was hunting about 500rpm for a number of seconds then settled to 1500rpm but as soon as I took my foot of the accelerator it the engine stopped.

Any ideas, Thoughts or suggestions would be very helpful

Thanks

Tom

My advice and that of many others is not to run up to temp sitting on tickover. Drive it straight away using the warmup procedure etc, even more so with current weather smile. The issue could be a myriad of things, not enough rpm on tickover and floods etc, coil pack issue, how long was it sitting there before you turned it on? 1500 seems a little high on tickover, from what I've gathered most are around 900 :/

How long did you run the engine for before turning off? Could well be flooded. If so then will run fine tomorrow morning when you start it (but it will stink of fuel for a minute).

Hi Chaps,

Thanks for your replies. The engine ticks over at around 850rpm the 1500 rpm was what I held it at on the throttle to stop it stalling . The car was used yesterday and was fine. The time left between switching it off and locking the garage was about 2 mins. Then between changing the battery and firing it up again was around 20 mins.It started but wouldn't hold tick over,But it would hold on part throttle 1500 rpm . The time from starting and warming up to temp 80 was about 15 mins it's not the normal warm up routine procedure I use ( I get the engine to around 20 and keep revs to under 3k when I'm out driving it until I get the engine to 60) but I was doing other stuff and time got away from me angelit pulled out of the garage fine.

I'll see how it goes tomorrow when I'll give it another

Thanks,

Tom

Don't think it'll be flooding as you've had it running, was there any error codes pop up? Something like ECU error code etc .?

Ditto from above, do not warm stationary, and certainly not on tick over, cokes up IIRC

Start engine and drive. smile

Could be the 100amp fuse. Mine ran really lumpy when mine had gone, then died at a roundabout. Or maybe its just that the battery is on its way out.

Could be a whole bunch of things. Mine was a bad cold starter until I put gaskets under the throttle bodies - it was drawing air in when cold because there's no decent seal between bodies and head. When everything warmed up and expanded (sealing better of course), it ran properly. You'll need an assistant to help but the best way to check is to spray something like WD40 (or similarly light combustible spray) around the base of the throttles when its running from cold, to identify air leakage - if it suck the stuff in, it'll change rpm. Simple check to carry out.

Good news all is fine with my girl.... I fired the engine up and still had the same issue frown After a head scratching session and a bit of diagnostics I traced it back to TPS connector which had a faulty connection pin, once I'd changed that out all was well. I drove down to York and back to see a friend of mind and the car preformed to its usual standard.

I have owned the Tamora 3 years and have travelled over 25,000 miles of trouble free motoring and this has been the 1st serious issue I've had. At least it's a W&T item.

I don't get on here very often but I sure do appreciate all your support and help. It's very much appreciated chaps

Thanks again

I had a throttle pot go when the car had only 15k from new on the clock!
