I have finally had the seats fully re trimmed in my new Tamora but unfortunately the battery went flat whilst it was unused. I have started the car but the lower part of the dash now doesn't work at all. The dials work as normal but there is no other info. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

Check the ribbon cables on the clock pack and ecu are pushed in properly. When I had my dash issues I swapped the cables and did not push one of them home properly and the LCD remained blank

Thanks, I'll have a fiddle, would be strange if they are loose though as I haven't touched the dash...

Please don't touch the internal battery without a cause, it has nothing to do with a blank LCD screen. If the battery's empty the dash will show you a fault message.
If you remove the battery without special preparation the battery buffered RAM will loose it's values and you have to send in the Dash ECU to set it back to proper content.

Check the ribbon cables as Andy has written before.

Thanks, struggling to find any info on line, except that various copies have been for sale in the past, but aren't now! Everyone seems to recommend it, so if anyone wants to sell a copy please let me know.

There has been a recent reprint, there is a sticky on the speed 6 section of this forum and not everyone who asked appears to have taken their copy. Might be worth a look there.

This, as i under stand it, the battery just helps to hold some ECU info if it looses main power, nothing to do with blank screen.
If the car has been stood a while the LCD screen it self may be shot, they normally start having lines across or pixels missing but have been known to go blank completely.
I would try the ribbons in the drivers footwell first as well though.
