Anyone know what the spec was on press cars. I understand there was some kind of press spec on some models that were released to impress press ?
More to the point where are they now ?

T cars were often 4.0 red rose (even if the car was intended to be a 3.6)
Shorter diff and cr box not unusual.

Build detail received extra attention.

Hmmm... would be interested in this as well - that's what I found during the last clutch change:

Ok this is what id heard. Clearly mr wheeler would want to make sure he hit the right notes with these cars.
But what is a press body ?
Engine exhaust and brakes all bigger makes sense and is visible.
But press body ? Is that lightweight ?
Or just fitted better !

3.6 press engine suggests a 3.6 'Red Rose' engine. TVR were going to make the Red Rose spec cars with an upgraded 3.6. Apparently though, due to time needed to build the upgraded engine, they just stuck 4.0 and 4.0S engines in instead.

My t350 RR has 4.0S engine, VIN says its a 3.6.

What is the engine number steve
Should be p40 in there at the front.
3.6 rr was balanced and gas flowed I think but p36 engine number.
Still dont know what a press body is tho

Must admit all my knowledge comes from Jason Clegg.

I thought my car was a 3.6 until he told me otherwise and a bit of the history as I put above.

Car is garaged a mile away, but will post engine number out if interest when I next checking in on her.

Mine also has lighter vinyl ester body, which may be something used for press cars as about 40kg lighter than standard.

Specials built of the type noted would have had a p36 engine number, not a p40

It's more flexible. Again, Jason's wisdom. He pushed front wing, it flexed and he said "yes, that's vinyl ester"

Not sure where you based but take car to him, he will be more than happy to prod around and help with inside knowledge.

T350s or Tamoras built with 4.0 engines.
Known from experience of ordering both new with larger engines and having the discussion with TVR on receipt of docs from Swansea.
I'm just an enthusiast thats been around the marque for a while.

Correct, build sheet stated 4.0, engines were definitely 4.0 though smile

Yes, the engine number indicates a 3.6 as well: P6363331

There are the wildest combinations around.
I´ve already seen:

Tamora RR (incl. build sheet) with a P40 engine number what covers Jason´s theory, there are a handful of 3.6 RRs around, though.
Standard T350 with P36 engine number, but definately 4.0S engine.

As long as you don´t have a look at the internals, injectors, cats, etc., the engine number is just a number.

There was a black Tamora motorshow car for sale in H L Gorners, it had a switch under the dash that apparently changed the engine map?
