Hi All

Collecting my T350C 4.3 Power engined beauty soon

Having owned 3 other TVRs (without issue ) I'm keen to know what to expect the gauge to say so I can monitor.

Does the temp fluctuate between motorway temp, normal traffic temp, standing traffic?

Does it suffer from heat soak under the bonnet, will the fans be on in traffic?

What's the typical running temp, more concerned with variations than what the gauge suggests the temp is.

Just keen to know so I know what's normal, hopefully mine will be normal.

She's had the ally rad fitted as appears to be good practice.

All help / observations from personal experience welcomed.

See you about somewhere.

I don't have a 4.3 in my T-car you need to wait for somebody like Zippee to come along. From what I have read, they run no hotter than normal so 75-80 on the move & upto 95 when in traffic with the fans coming in in two stages working as they should (92 & 96 degrees in my case). Spall do an upgraded fan that may be of benefit to keep the 4.3 cooler and Zippee has this on his car as I have his old fans as a spare. Heat soak can be a bit grim but decatting helps

Champion thanks - nice T car BTW - very nice retrim - same leather as we use on boardroom chairs!!

If you go on a drive out, does the temp rise and fans kick in by time she's garaged away??

Good point on cats, mine has been kept legal so has them on.

OK, this is in a 3.6 Tamora so may or may not be of assistance. I think the cooling may be a little better than in the T350.

General running - rock solid at 70 deg. Traffic - pretty quickly up to 90 odd. Then the fans cutting in as Shep advises.

Thanks again.

So cool when moving, hot when not.

Presume temps kept under 97 by fans, worry if you see 3 figures.

Managed to get a full race tuscan challenge to sit in traffic after a year without over heating, but small nose on T350 means little air flow when standing.

Andrew Muierhead leather is very good - they even do iPad cases, I have a blue one to match the car!. I tend to always do long runs in the car so the fans will run on idling from operating temperature but the outside temp really does influence how long before she warms up enough to need cooling down

Agree with all that's been said. Just to add that if temps do rise sitting in traffic, raise the revs a little for a few seconds and it will return to normal.

Cheers everyone.

Running at 70 seems pretty cold, more efficient if it runs a little warmer.

Need to check thermostat temp

Everyone concur 70 running 90-95 in traffic, never up to 3 figures

11 more sleeps until I collect her :-)

The trouble is, in my car, and I gather from this forum that it is common, that what the dash sensor says and what the ecu temp says don't usually agree.

My dash sensor reads about 8c above ecu readings, if I turn the heater On it immediately jumps up 10 degrees thus triggering the buzzer in traffic, and recently noticed it does the same when putting the windows up/down.

Even if you know the dash is telling porkies (by comparing against ecu readings) it should be taken seriously and fixed, because if you're as unlucky as I am, the electrical gremlin lies will conspire with an actual coolant leak and end up with steam coming out the bonnet, because you thought the dash was joking... currently checking and re-filling regularly till I get free moment to get it sorted out.

Dom's engines have also be known to run a little hot sometimes. He usually supplies larger fans to compensate when the situation occurs.

Is that only limited to powers' engines? I would think that would be true for all bigger bore speed sixes as they produce more power and therefore more heat as the satndard 3.6 or 4.0 litre model. Or what was your intent by saying the above?

Thanks again everyone

I'm not expecting issues as TVR Power seem to have an excellent reputation

Just wanted to know what to expect as a bench mark.

As always if there's an issue or concern these things are best resolved with bigger rads, fans, etc which seems to be part of the standard conversion.

The more power the more heat, but in traffic the modified car should be every bit as good as the standard if hope.

Just wondered how good the standard cars were - varied experience seemingly - not unusual for 10 year old cars.
