I have a standard T350C of 2003 vintage on its original exhaust system. I have tried a few sports exhausts over the years (JP and TVR Power) but the popping and banging on the over-run with them on eventually got a bit tiresome and I found myself trying to drive in such a way as to minimise them. The closest I got to Nirvana was a Blue Flame system but I was advised that the quality of these systems was a bit ropey.

Has anyone got any advice on how to get the volume "turned up" from its current level of 5 on the dial to, say 7 or 8 (I don't mind a little popping and banging but want more noise on acceleration) rather than up to 11 that I have experienced so far?

Ive had a Blue Flame fitted for the last 5 or so years on my Tam - No issues. It it the middle ground in terms of noise between JP and standard exhaust.

It was some time since I tried the Blueflame exhaust and their website doesn't, anymore, list what vehicles they make them for (or much of how they look). It's pretty light on information in fact. Has anyone any recent experience of their systems and, if so, what's the "ballpark" figure on cost and how would you describe quality and noise levels?

Worth talking to a local hotrod builder? One did the exhaust for the Tamora, and made a decent fist of it...

Larger bore system will make for a bigger sound, end boxes for tuning.

Thanks for everyone's feedback but I'm really trying to find a ready-made system that will do what I want.

Not trying to be clever, but have you actually heard your car drive past you, ie get someone else to drive it?

ACT big bore system is likely what you need rather than the usual back box!

I know what you mean and I realise you're not trying to be clever. I think it sounds great from a bystander's viepoint but I'd like more noise inside the cabin!!

Crazy huh?

Listed as a Tamora exhaust, but maybe worth asking them a question

I would echo this, my 03 Tamora is standard, and from the cabin it sounds so much quieter than my previous precat Griff ( ok a lot quieter) but habing made a few Gopro vids with a mic next to the exhaust, it sounds a lot better for the pavement viewers.

Weird that they're selling a Blueflame exhaust as it's not a Power one. They appear to do a T350C on but that is and I've tried that and it's got the overrun issue!

Have you checked the cats are still in?
I didn't think the over-run was that significant with cats and a standard exhaust scratchchin

Edit - just noticed your original post re the Blueflame, being quite a sad person I'm fairly certain this is the quietest sports system available, as said before it might be time to have a bespoke system made.

Certainly in my Tamora, the over-run isn't obtrusive at all with the TVR Power sports exhaust..

I don't think it is with mine, but I do know people who really aren't fans of the over-run artillery plus I'm nearly deaf...... TVR's and heavy metal are not the best combo for your hearing!

Perhaps I need to try a Power one again? Last time I enjoyed it for a day but got fed up with it after that! Perhaps I need to man up and grow a pair!

Me too! The pops and bangs are the sole reason for me buying the sports exhaust - for me, it's just right.

This objective that I'm trying to achieve is hard to define - really! I don't mind a bit of banging and popping and, to prove it, I do, quite often, try to drive in such a way as to create a few with the standard system (i.e. abrupt lift off of the accelerator whilst in a low gear at highish revs) but I have to work hard for it. And, by the way, my windows are always open unless it's raining!

As I said in my original post, I'm looking for a bit louder (in cabin) noise and, now I think about it, pops and bangs that can be easily created but which are not constant and difficult to drive around. I also want to avoid a droning noise at highish cruising speeds.

I'm probably not making much sense. If a standard, run-of-the-mill car has an exhaust volume of 1 or 2, then my TVR, on its standard system (and not de-catted) is about a 5. The Power/JP sports exhausts seem to be around 8 or 9 with the full, de-catted Sports exhausts up at 11. I suppose I'm looking for an off-the-shelf system that will give me a 7 or 8. Does that help?
