Hi All

Thanks for the replies and I don,t think it is a standard exhaust because it is 105-107db, she is at Doms at the moment having a 4.5 put in but attached is a picture of the rear maybe you might be able to tell what type of exhaust it has from the picture

Looks like a JP. Difficult to tell as photo not offering much. A 4.5 will make it even louder mate.

I think the only way you will get on track is to put the original exhaust on and maybe silencers will be needed after given the 4.5 scenario. Difficult to tell.

I can't think of many with silencers fitted to a JP due to the lip it has. Some have drilled a hole in the exhaust to attach one.

If your Decatted, that's not going to help on noise tongue out

Thanks Steve

I think I will wait till I pick it up from Dom,s and see exactly what exhaust it has, then when its run in check the noise level and as you say I might just have to put back the standard exhaust smile

Have added that site to my favourites - I want to start doing some track days, but I am sure I have hammered the rear sports exhausts so tight, I'll not be able to remove them again....

Cheers - but TBH, I don't want to do a track day until I have had the engine upgraded to 4.3 and is run in, so I was thinking much later in the year, possibly next.

However, I would like to take my wife and her MGF Trophy 160 on a track day, as I have spent thousands getting that sorted, and would like her to try it on or near the limit....

When are getting the 4.3 upgrade done, I,am going to Spa in September with another chap if you fancy that

Why bring the MGF along to Snetterton

I have been looking for a suitable track day in the next few months but noticed the Snetterton track states 105db and 92db drive by. Is the 105db the 4000RPM at 2 meters test? What is the 92db drive by test?

I need to buy some track day silencers for my car and a db tester to see if it is worth me attempting these limits before I go. I was thinking of taking my 4.5 Cerbera but with short induction, decat and virtually straight through exhaust (tiny silencer near tail pipe only). 92db might be a push.

Ahh...just found the noise test info page.

The static 105db test looks tricky for a Cerbera. Half a meter and 3/4 of max RPM. Does that mean I have to hold the revs at 5,775RPM - 6,000PRM?

The drive by only states 20 meters what RPM do you need to be at? Do they have any rule on this to stop you coasting by at idle?

It's going to either late this year or early next - depending on how I can get away with holding off renovating our house....

I also have a Cerb with just a sports exhaust and it is 112Db so I doubt if your decatted Cerb would get through the noise test , you can download a free db noise tester onto an iphone or similar I have one and its pretty good as it matched the one at Brands Hatch, most trackday silencers only manage to take 5-8db off so I would first down load the free app and see what your Cerb is, you might need to put a standard exhaust back on to get through most trackdays
