With the other thread on the SVC LED rear light units currently running, thought it might be useful to see if anyone has found decent LED bulb upgrades. By decent I mean something that lasts more than 5 minutes, is brighter than the original bulbs, and has a good light spread.

I've bought LED bulbs a couple of times from fleabay and not found anything that ticks all the boxes. Ended up junking them. Maybe someone has found some good ones.... C

I've just asked a similar question in the Chimaera section after following a Chim today.

I'm thinking about these (not sure if they are Tamora fitment but the theory stands)

For forward looking LEDs assemblies (NOT bulbs), see here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

The alternatives e.g. HIDs are rubbish in H4 format - A double headlight conversion like this: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... Is an alternative to the LED Headlamp

I don't think you will find any "LED alternative bulbs for H4 bulbs" within the eBay area that will be at all useful (a slight understatement!!)

These are attractive alternates as Tams have the 7 inch fitment. http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/trucklite-phase-7-led-he...

HTHs?

I thought the post was about rear lights rather than headlights.

Apologies if I missed the point with my post.

I like them! But I bet there's a lot of fettling and then completely different wiring to get them to fit?

Fettling yes, but not as much as the SP version (two Hella units). Headlamp is a 7inch H4 Unit, not a Chimaera/Commercial reflector and fittings. Much more do-able than Chim/Lupo conversion as there should be no glass fibre work, just silkaflex securing, removing/replacing fairing cover, more silkaflex.

Wiring is just the same headlamp plug as fits the rear of the H4 bulb - possibly a minor change for side lights, pretty simple.

OK, thank you smile So nothing a decent specialist, Central TVR for example couldn't handle, I assume.
