Hello chaps
I took the Sag out yesterday for the first time this year and it really didn't sound/look good.
On firing her up there was a lot of smoke from the engine vent (but this is normal I believe) but also a lot of exhaust smoke for a few minutes.
I then warmed her up carefully as I always do but when putting my foot on the gas there was a knocking/rattling noise coming from the front/engine bay. Also when lifting off there was drone noise.
Any ideas please???
Jeff

Just thought I'd give you all an update.
I spoke to 2 TVR specialists and was advised it could be either, engine pinging/detonation/misfire or a collapsed cat.
I then looked over my log and saw I had driven the Sag literally 40 miles in the last 4 months and she was sat in the garage with the minimal of petrol in.
I did a little bit of research and wondered if the petrol had gone off due to the amount of air in the tank and also if there was a build up of carbon due to driving only very short trips..
Anyway, this morning I bought some Cataclean (cleans valves, injectors, sensors and cats) from Halfords for £15.99, warmed her up carefully (as always) and put some new petrol in. Conclusion, runs like a dream!! :-) Thank god!!
Let this be a lesson. DRIVE THE DAMN THING!!!!

The TVR police will be calling round at your house every week in the summer making sure your driving that awesome car, that some people can only dream of owning. You should be ashamed of yourself !!!!!I spoke to 2 TVR specialists and was advised it could be either, engine pinging/detonation/misfire or a collapsed cat.
