My battery is buggered, runs fine once jumped but I think one of the cells has gone as it won't then crank over.
Sooooo I need a new battery, what one do I need and is there a specific brand or size to fit in the hole?

Also, any tips on removal and refitting would be handy, I have a vague idea of how to get it out but have never done so in my ownership. Wheel off with steering turned to aid access? Remove the access panel (is this crewed on or masticked into place?), then attempt to undo the battery leads and remove from the hole? - does that sound about right? smile

This will fit, Its what I put in mine in December. Not all 069/072 batteries are the same size or have the correct clamping profile. There is not much room width wise to get the battery to fit, height & depth are fine + you need a battery with the side clamp profile & not all have this.

Its a wheel off job but should take no more than 20 mins. Cover is screwed & may be siliconed in to seal. there should also be a cable tie on the bottom round the chassis rail. There is a clamp with 13mm bolt and captive nut arrangement on the side closest to the Anderson connector which you can see from underneath. Leave the terminal covers on the battery until its in place, put them on the old battery as you remove it. You need to tilt the battery as you put it in/out so the clamping profile slides under the fixed lip on the chassis closest to exhausts. Don't forget to check the Anderson connector and all the cables for condition and tightness of bolts etc whilst the battery is out.

I bought and fitted exactly the same model battery as Shep 2 weeks ago. Fitted just fine. I change the battery every 5 years, for the cost its not worth the problems a weak battery can cause - this is the car's second replacement since 2004.

Thanks all, an 069 Bosch purchased this morning and after a bit of swearing all fitted.
Another problem seems to have manifested itself since though.
Went to start to test the new battery, it turned over slowly a couple of times before firing with a heck of a backfire and lots of grey smoke. I've taken her for a long run and she drives fine, but starting up now it has a small backfire and a flash of EFi fault before the revs finally come up and settle at perfect idle. Any ideas? Could the duff battery and subsequent have upset the ECU at all?

Might need an adaptives & tpot reset. Maybe the car has forgotten and it needs to re learn. Plug it in to the diagnostics and check
