Good evening all,

I have spent today whipping off the fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator as I've been meaning to polish for some time now.

Although she is all back together and I've been out for a test run and all seems ok, I just had a couple of questions.

What is the correct way to put the injectors back together, would they be in the throttle body first or should they be put into the fuel rail first?

What is the correct way to get the o rings to seat properly? First I put all the injectors into the throttle bodies and laid the rail on top, the used to 4 fuel rail cap head bolts to tighten and force the O rings into to rail.

Problem with my method is that I seem to have sliced a thin slice (less than 5%) of two of the O rings. I have checked for fuel leaking and all seems ok under load but I may buy some new O rings and do it again for peace of mind.

If anyone has done this successfully and would care to share, would be great!

your method is right, but lubricate the o rings with a smear of Vaseline, when fitting the fuel rail try to fit by hand before fitting the bolts so you don't damage the o rings, once they locate in the rail then fit the bolts and gradually tighten down one at a time keeping the fuel rail parallel to the throttle bodies.

Ok so naturally when I tamper with one thing it leads to another.

I filled up the car today and after a short run the car smelt heavily of petrol.

After checking the fuel rail for leaks I discovered that the fuel line is split and leaking around the nipple at the back of the fuel rail just under the bulkhead.

So I guess I need to remove the fuel rail again...

Question is, can I just cut the hard fuel pipe below the split and reconnect to the nipple or should I be replacing the whole fuel line? If so how big a job is that?

Secondly the fuel line is a hard plastic that I couldn't twist off the nipple before, so what's the trick to getting it on and off the nipple?
