Hi
I am in a dilemma one of my door card speakers has gone off, I stripped it down and found what looks like a coil and capacitor wired into the speaker wire, Checked it out and found it to be u/s.
Can you still buy these speakers or will I have to upgrade and to what?

I don’t use the stereo that much but I want to change the head unit anyway for a more modern one. So what would you recommend.

Thanks Chris

could be the crossover unit that's gone.
I replaced my original fitment unit with a sony "mechless" one. no cd drive (solid state-Ipod or USB sticks)-my original used to jump due to stiff suspension.

I changed the useless factory standard door card/pod speakers for these:

They are a direct fit and sound a lot better than the useless factory standards.

I have the small 3.5" ones and am currently replacing. I'll let you know what I go for. My rears are Focal 130ac's which destroy the old Clarions smile

I presume you have the tiny speakers? Is it a direct fit?

if you've access to a lathe- you can make adapter plates. I made some for my rears.
Just be mindful in case they are in line of fire from your feet or knees as it will push out the dimension to the speaker front slightly- depending how deep you make them; mine are about 15mm but could have been less if I was better at machining
