What's "wrong" with Sagaris in the classifieds? know this?
Discussion
Morning all,
996tt is sold, time to buy a sagaris!! Been meaning to do it for a while, should have done it rather than get the pork last year!
So, with the fuss over that 70k car from Str8six (which I kinda get, str8six do a fantastic job of preparing their cars, and if the car was indeed THAT good, then it would command that kind of money)...
The "optimistically" prices orange one (72k)... As good as the car may be, I just dont think you can command that sort of money unless you're a very well respected TVR specialist. I wouldn't touch a TVR from anywhere but one of the names I know.
What's wrong with all the other cars? the 60-65k ones? Are they all s
t? They seem to have been languishing for a while..
This purple one
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...
or this red one

both from VERY well respected specialists, seem comparative bargains?
Which begs the question, what's wrong with them, along with all the rest in the classifieds?
Anyone know the cars in question?
Got money burning a hole and I'm tempted to just phone and leave a deposit next week!

You need to go and view a few and see the condition for yourself. My experience is that the top priced ones are not always the 'best' ones for sale.
As general indicators when buying any TVR though, I look for:
- The service record - would prefer one that has been serviced every year (one of those last had a service in 2013)
- Cosmetic condition of chassis, bodywork, interior, engine bay, wheels
- Obvious mechanical issues, knocks, tapping, rattles, clutch slip, brakes pulling to one side etc.
For top money, I'd expect close to new condition.
For the Sagaris in particular, personally I wouldn't buy one without AirCon or with a dark interior (but others like this!).

Indeed, for 70k I'd want it to be utterly immaculate! I would have probably bought the str8six car but the Porsche wasn't sold in time and it was snapped up very quickly. As general indicators when buying any TVR though, I look for:

Just to throw another in. . This one is via powers car dealers with powers rebuild and warranty. 59k http://www.shmooautomotive.co.uk/product/tvr-sagar...
Hi. I'd say go and see/drive a few and you will see the difference quite quickly.
Having bought the Str8six car I can confirm it is as new. Utterly immaculate inside, outside and underneath.
Also, a Sag without air con is not ideal. In fact it would be a disaster. And the worst part is nobody is keen to retrofit.
The one just advertised at Shmoo looks to be sorted on paper and their tie up with Powers is a clever move.
Enjoy the hunt. They are truly amazing cars

Am I being dense? Where does it say the purple one doesn't have aircon? Or it it some part of the ad I can't see on my phone?
Aircon wasn't standard so if the ad doesn't state it, it won't be fitted. Even TVR's without a roof get very warm in the cabin in summer, I can imagine what a Sag would be like and it won't be pleasant. Given the system was bespoke and all the parts long since unavailable, retrofit is not possible (very many have asked).Speed 3 said:

I thought that Straight6 offered a retro fitting service for aircon?ILoveMondeo said:

If you need to know anything about this car ask me or better still the previous owner
Previous owner knows a lot more than i do he goes by the name of 'hollowpockets' and is called Graham, nice guy who will be open and transparent, hes a pure petrolhead and has a great depth of knowledge of my car and what work has been carried out, hope this helps.
When i was looking at buying a Sag there were other cheaper options than the one i bought, yet i at least i can sleep at night knowing the Sag i bought has had an engine rebuild buy Jason who is regarded as one of the best TVR technicians in the country and has a file of history backing the work carried out
Good luck with your search :-)

You have a lovely car but are making your life difficult retailing through a random, non TVR garage imho.
Why not sell it privately, straighten up the exhausts and it will go PDK

Hi IloveMondeo – The red car is sold according to the dealer website and the purple car doesn’t have aircon, which I guess puts some people off. (But I know that car’s previous owner and she is fastidious, so I am guessing it’s actually a very nice car.)
I am guessing you are assuming that there is something wrong with the Saggys that have not sold, just because they are still available? You assume lots of people are viewing the cars and finding something wrong with them? But in reality there are just not that many people in the market to buy TVRs at this price level. Middle of March 2016 and nobody has been to view my Sagaris this year yet.
However the used sports car market has changed, values are rising across the marques and having stock is better than not. In the past, if I had a car sticking around, I would have discounted the price; given a stupid-fantastic p/x offer; or simply swapped it with another dealer; to keep stock flowing. But there’s no point doing that, as when I do eventually sell my Sagaris, I do not know where am I going to find another one to buy and stock? And if I have the extra £60k in the bank account, I’ll earn bugger all interest on it; where as if I still have my Sagaris this time next year, I will probably be advertising it at £65k.
So don’t know if this post helps or encourages you, but you do need to go and view the cars.

Well I'll be giving the garage a shout on Monday with a view to coming and having a look on Thursday, see what all the fuss is about! I'm in Manchester all week for work so may as well get the ball rolling looking at some cars.If you need to know anything about this car ask me or better still the previous owner

Is Blueribbon your business? If not, very strange choice of place to sell such a specialist car.. bunch of ex-lease audis and a Sagaris!!!

FWIW, if this were on sale at somewhere like str8six, I'd be phoning to leave a deposit, not "go and have a look"..

Dont like the colour on that one
Looks great otherwise...
Looking for something silly (bright green/orange/purple/etc), or something black / very very dark grey.
Had way too many light grey/silver cars in my life!
