Just done a search under warranties and although there's been a few discussion about them, there's nothing particularly conclusive hence the post.

The warranty on my Tamora expires at the end of April, and I'm looking at the best options to continue as I still want piece of mind.

The current warranty is an RAC 5 Star and it's been used successfully over the last 11 months a few times. Both the RAC and the dealer who supplied the car (HL Gorner) have been very helpful when it came to any niggles or quibbles with the car.

However, the replacement cost for the 5 star is quite high, so I'd be interested to hear from anyone with experiences of any other warranty companies before I take the plunge with the RAC again.

Cheers,

Patrick.

Also - forgot to mention initially. There was some talk on one forum of a factory warranty for pre '05 cars...has anyone heard anything more on this?

I've spoken to the dealer about this and they say that they are still putting warranties though the RAC (it was about 3-4 weeks ago when I last spoke to them though).

Call Pat Cummings at the factory, she sold me a totally comprehensive and very useful extended warranty for my Tuscan.

Thanks for this - top stuff.

As per the above post...can I be cheeky and ask what's covered and how much?

£1K + VAT. Cover was totally comprehensive, the same as a new TVR warranty except for paintwork which was not covered.

I used it for loads of little niggly things and adjustments which would not have been covered by any other aftermarket warranty. It certainly paid for itself in terms of labour costs over a year. It made keeping my Tuscan in absolutely perfect condition a lot less painful, as most of the little fixes/adjustments I claimed for I would have had to fix myself or just not bothered to have done if I hadn’t had it.

Interesting...

Is that 'bumper to bumper' and therefore includes the engine?

Hi Patrick
My 5star RAC warrenty expires next month, also supplied from HLG, also on a '02 Tam.
How much did the RAC want to renew?

I'd try to ring them myself but the docs are in the glovebox & the cars in the body shop at HLG.

I bought it when the initial one year warranty expired so the engine was still covered by their standard 2 year warranty. BTW I think they will only sell it as a warranty extension, so if your car’s already out of warranty it’s too late. Probably best to check with the factory though as I bough mine in August 2003 and things may well have changed since NS took over.

How old was your car when you got the factory warranty? We have the same warranty from the factory (due to expire) but we had to grovel for it last time as we were told that they wouldn't cover a car into its 3rd year... Thanks.

My car was one year old. They seemed very happy to sell it to me with no grovelling required. But I was told the same as you that they won’t extend it into the 3rd year.

Fly Boy:- the RAC warranty is about £900 - £1k I recall. I haven't got a number to contact them about it as Gorners have said they'd speak to the RAC for me.

I'll ring HLG tomorrow, they might have more news as to whether I'll be trying to make a claim on this one before it expires then too.

Hello all - posting as an interloper from the Tuscan Forum!

FYI - have phoned Pat Cummings at the factory, and the warranty can only be extended at the end of Yr 1 - and not thereafter. I am purchasing an 18mth old Tuscan and regrettably will be having to look for an after-market option once the full 2yrs are up (and even then, the engine is the only thing remaining covered into the 2nd yr).

Any suggestions for such a decent warranty appreciated on any forum (RAC not covering TVR's).

Just had a look - certainly look competitive enough.

Has anyone got experience of them? Are they any good?

Its actually Pat Cumming.

I hate it when people add the "s" at the end of our name.
