Any advice would be appreciated on how to fix multiple fault codes when I start the car for the 1st time after a couple of weeks:

0 volts, ECU fault, followed by what looks like all the sys fault codes there are. When I run the car for a few minutes, switch off and restart, all dash readings are normal.

Thanks

If it's cold you will get 'faults' for oil/water temp as they are out of range. As soon as they warm up a little they read fine.

You should get zero faults irrespective of temperature, there is a problem.

Do you have error 250 in amongst your cold start errors?

Thanks for the replies, fairly sure I didn't get error code 250 which is the dash ECU battery I believe?

The time and trip readings were still there but I had 150L of fuel showing for a few seconds!

Will keep an eye on it.

The fact you’ve got multiple unrelated errors and it happens after a period of no use and goes away when you’ve used the car, does sound like you’ve got a very low battery charge, it can confuse the ecu and bring up all manor of errors.

Unless the battery is brand new I’d change it.

Error 250 is clock, there is no error code for low battery.

However, having error 250 shows the battery is low as clock has failed. The downside is that if you replace the battery, you have to do it with the ECU plugged in with power applied, otherwise you WILL lose the clock and there is No way to reset the clock unless its re-programmed.

However, even with no battery, the system will not do as you describe and will flash up error 250 on its own and nothing else, having seen a lot of these pass my bench, if you have no loose connections/plugs etc, you most definitely have an issue with your control unit.

Thanks - the battery is new and kept plugged in to an Optimate so I'll check all the connectors.

Sorry, I meant the coin cell battery in the ECU itself!

Did you check the basic things first, e.g. the chassis ground post behind the battery? I recently serviced a Sagaris with plenty of codes and slow starts. Cleaning the grounds did the trick. As you mention it is all good after a drive I really think this is worth checking.

Good luck, Markus

Thanks Markus, I checked the easy things 1st and it hasn't thrown up any strange fault codes since.

Maybe some moisture getting where it shouldn't?
