Sagaris - any available for immediate purchase?
Discussion
Peninsula have one of thier demo's for sale at the moment:
£ 53,500 & you can drive away today.
Was looking at them a few weeks ago & was suprised at the choice available for immediate or near immediate delivery.
If you want to spec your own car there are also a few dealers which have build slots ready and waiting. Looking at about an early June delivery.

I'm sure they will.
I think, personally, that a lot of people are holding off on the sagaris until they can actually have a 'proper' test drive in one.
I went out in Gorners car a couple of weeks ago, but obviously they are still running it in & therefore could not be opened up. However in another month this will not be the case.
First impressions were very good. Hard tell explain the difference over a T350 but you could just tell it was a bit special. But for an additional £15k it should be.
The other problem is that for me, if you're spending £55k there are so many other options now available. I mean 996TT's are now that money (circa), as are GT3's which offer similar speed, far better build quality & the capability of tuning to your hearts content.

I'm not saying it too much money. I'm just saying you buy a T350 for 40k you're alternatives are limited. At £55k the alternatives are immense.
Personally, I did find myself swaying towards GT2/GT3. Slightly more money but the option of tuning as & when is a huge bonus.
What happens if you buy a Sagaris & a supercharged version appears ? Will they retrofit the works ? Or do you find yourself having to sell, loosing circa £15k in the first year ? And so on, and so on ...........

Fish test drove a Sagaris a few weeks ago, I thought he was going to come home saying he had either put an order on one, or that he wanted to get one sooner rather than later...
... he wasn't overly awestruck with it, didn't think it was worth that much much than the T350c... he did come home though going on about a Tamora he had seen though. Looks like next springs new car has been decided upon

Jeez you happy campers really know how to keep those second hand prices boyant don't you?!
So two cars for sale (maybe they're sold already for all you know). There are many times more Enzos available than that! And you lot come over like there's some crisis, the Saggy's a flop blah blah.
2 Cars for sale means that there's still well over 60 people like me who don't want to part with their cars. One is a dealer demo, the other is a competition winner. That hardly amounts to a crisis does it.
The car is superb. And you do get a lot for your extra 15 grand, which is much easier to see if you can actually afford it.
And as for the choice of a TVR or porsche? That's absurd. I can't imagine what any fan of TVRs could ever see in a 996. They are chalk and cheese. And yes I have driven them both. A porsche is no alternative, if that's what you prefer but can't afford then fine. But no die hard TVR fan would ever want a 996. Surely not? Et tu Brute? No wonder Rover went to the wall....

A bit over the top me thinks
Unfortunately, it is inevitable that the cars are going to lose a small fortune every year. I personally would expect to lose 15k in year 1 & in three years be worth no more than £35k.
Firstly, theres a damn site more than 2 cars available, but this is by no means a crisis. As I said earlier I think people are waiting to 'proper' test drives to see the difference.
I don't understand ? Only wealthy people can read a spec-sheet ?
A lot of people move from TVR to other marques. TVR's are an affordable entry into performance cars. But, they have their downfalls when compared to say Porsche.
I agree than ownership is completely different. TVR's are an 'event', Porsches are not, but to say TVR owners would not buy Porsches is a slightly blinkered opinion.

If that's the case I'm definatley buying one next year.
New Sagaris = 53k with a decent spec.
You reckon it'd lose 15k in yr one? So that's 38k leaving 1.5k depreciation per year in 2 and 3 (and it'll be under warranty in that time).
I don't think so myself. It's a new car so will depreciate. If you can buy one for 10k less than retail in a year I'd be really surprised.
No I agree, in a way.
If in 12 months you want to buy a Sagaris through a dealer I would expect to pay circa 45-48k. However, privately would be a different matter altogether.
Take the T350 for example. 2003 model in dealers are still between £30k & £33k, whereas privately, well, lets just say mines for sale at present at £28,500 & the amount of interest ? Not one call.
I think the point I am making is depreciation is not what the dealers are selling them for, its how much you as the owner can get for it, and there is a huge gap between the two.

I didn't buy a Tvr as a cheap way of getting into fast cars. Firstly they are not that cheap! You can buy many a second hand beetle for a lot less then you've all paid for your tvrs. If the build (like the owners) is so flipping superior why didn't you buy one of those?
Having actually owned more expensive 'marques' I haven't ended up with a tvr because I've fallen on hard times. I own one because they are the best cars around at the moment and in my opinion, for my particular taste. Any modern tvr is to me far more involving, exciting to look at and drive, and far quicker than any modern porsche I have driven.
It's sad that being built in the UK doesn't seem to matter much to you lot either. I am so proud that the monster outside my door was built in the UK. And I'm proud I chose to support a brave, innovative UK company. It's one of the coolest cars on the road and we made it. And, OK if build quality improves, we can do it much better than the germans or the italians - or anyone. Judging by all the M3's and porsche's around I know partriotism left the uk a long time ago but I really thought there would be a bit left on a TVR forum!

But there is patroitsim. I own a TVR, and I suspect I bought it in part for many of the reasons you have said.
No-one mentioned money, until yourself said that only the people that could afford one would know the difference between the T350 & the Sagaris. Which is fundamentaly wrong.
With regards to Porsches, I agree in part. I think there are models in the 996 range which would appeal to TVR owners, and as said earlier these are similar, or slightly more, than the Sagaris.
As for speed, then once again, dependant on the model, but from the ones mentioned the TVR would be the slowest.
This thread seemed to have turned into a slagging match, but have no idea for why, as at present we are all TVR owners. I honestly think TVR's are awesome cars, with the car itself being only a 'part' of the whole TVR thing.
BUT, surely people have to experience different marques, as yourself has clearly done, and then make an educated discission made on facts, not hearsay.

And we will welcome you to the Tamora register with open arms! Most under rated TVR!
I very much doubt the Sagaris will be slower than any non modified 996 especially when it comes to pure acceleration.. you could purchase a used 996tt for a the price of new Sagaris but who wants an old car with high miles when they can have the meanest and coolest looking car on the road which just happens to be crazy fast too..
