Doors open from inside not from the outside
Discussion
Hiya, this is my first post
I'm really hoping that someone can shed light on the problem we are having.
We've recently retrimmed a Tamora, dash out, centre consul out, door panels out etc., all been fitted back in except seats. We were just checking that everything is working. Which it is, great we thought. But then we saw that the doors open fine from the dash button but when we tried to open the doors from the outside they won't open :/
The weird thing is that if the doors are shut but not fully closed - just latched on (so to speak) then they will open using the wing mirror button. The solenoid is working. The button is working fine on the wing mirror as it will open the doors if they are closed but not fully closed iykwim. This affecting both doors.
Can anyone help me please?

The things I would check would be; make sure the battery is fully charged and in good order first as a poor battery can cause all sorts of mischief. Second I would check that the door ECUs (located under the central transmission trim) haven’t been disturbed and are connected properly.
Thanks so much we’ve had a sleepless night over this issue.
Will check the door panels, pretty confident they’re fitted correctly but will double check.
In terms of the door seals we haven’t changed these. My question is, if the internal door release buttons have enough power to open the doors, why wouldn’t that be the case with the external door release button?
For what it’s worth, the battery did go flat while the interior was out but we have started the car since.
Boot opens fine too. Everything else working fine.
Really appreciate you help guys. Customer wants his car back, we are one step away from finishing the job and this issue is causing a lot of stress! 😬

I can't give you a reason but I find that by just pressing the internal release once my doors always open ok but sometimes I have to hold the external button in until the door actually opens or it gets stuck on the safety/second latch. This may point you in the right direction if none of the above have solved your problem, read both topics through

It's sorted!!!!!
In case this helps anyone else, I shall post what we discovered.
Following suggestions from you lovely lot here we removed the control unit for the windows and door release, which is accessible via the glove box. We looked at the micro board and we could see that the back was too close to the switch causing the door lock to be on all the time. We are only talking a mm if that but it was enough.
This button did not look like it was stuck from the outside at all, it was clicking and felt like it was working. As a result I was not hopeful having a look at it would be beneficial. But it was our last step before removing centre consul and dash!
Thanks everyone who took the time to respond to my request for help
