Hi
I have just noticed that one of the diffuser mounting bolts has pulled out from the body at the bottom of the rear wing. It appears to have taken the thread with it.
Does anyone know how I get access to this.

thanks

Hi,
they were attached with either bobbins or rivnuts.
I have fixed this issue using Rawl hollow wall anchors and replaced the screw with a bolt, you would have to buy the insert tool though, however they work a treat.
You could also probably get a rivnut in, but again you would need the insert tool. I am not sure if when compresssing the rivnut ( if steel) it would damage the FG though.

Hi
I was wondering about something like you describe. It's good to hear it worked for you. If possible I would like to spread the load over a larger area of fibreglass. Is the only access to the back of this panel through the wheel arch? I don't fancy having to cut a hole though.

This is from memory, but Iam not sure if you can get to through the boot.
Open the boot, pull the carpet back, remove the insert that normally has the tyre weld in it and have a look.
In all honesty I had the everything out of the car at the back including the fibreglass panel that the speaker cover fixes too.
I would just use what I described, they do work and the backs of the fixing open up to actually distribute the load anyway.

Thanks for your comments guys.

I've had a closer look and it seems the attachment used is a rivnut on a small plate that was pop riveted to the body.
Is this standard?
I think I shall make up a new replacement then bond and use a couple of smaller cavity wall fixings to secure the plate to the body.
