Innaugural 'gris meet?
Discussion
how about this weekend at the Nurburgring!
I'm up for it and I live in London at the weekends, currently Paris during the week.
Somewhere near lots of tunnels or walls would be great. These cars give really good tunnel with their side exit exhausts.
DJC I can't believe we're going to end up with the same car! I thought you were a hardline RV8 man and weren't overly smitten by the sagaris after your test drive. Looks like the second test drive did the trick and that the car has grown on you. I do think you'll enjoy it though, the engine in particular is really special. The S6 really has got a lot better and smoother over time.
Your car will be stunning to look at too. I really wanted reflex charcoal myself but bottled it because I couldn't decide on the interior colour to go with it in time!
I bet you can't wait now!

Hehe well...! There is a story there and the Tamora owners wont like it.
My other option was a T350 T Red Rose. Lisa said well try the Tam, its basically the same as the 350 and u will see what she feels and drives like and it will highlight the differences between the cars. So I did.
And what a God awful piece of soul destroying, wet fart sounding like piece of w@nk it was. About the only other time Ive felt more bored driving a sporting car was when I took an Auto DB7 for a pootle. It was all the worst bits I disliked about the 'Gris in one car. Decided then and there that if that was an indication of what a 350 was like it would be a cold day in hell before I bought one.
So that left keeping the Grif or buying a 'Gris. The hanging pt really was the roof, i.e. the 'Gris has one! I dont own coupes, Ive never owned a coupe before. Real cars dont have roofs has been a family moto for 40yrs! The Griff though will start costing me money over the next cpl of yrs...as they do. Esp. considering I wanted to nitron her, big brake upgrade, level the interior and was thinking possible Big Valve fun.
The 2nd drive on the 'Gris I started to like it more. The noise...still only so so, but James just said they can sleeve it...sorted
I love the interior. The suspension is planted, Ok so I can live with the steering I suppose and basically its a 15yr improvement on the Grif in everyway. Ive also now totally fallen for the look of it and I saw a Tuscan in Reflex Charcoal and I just knew I wanted that colour. Then you start thinking of the performance. We've all grown up dreaming and drooling about performance cars. Proper performance. 250GTO's, 275GTB's, E-Types, Miuras, Boxers, 911 turbos, F40s, XJ220s, F1s legendary best of the best of their day. The 'Gris is the best of the best today. Forget Noble, nothing they produce is remotely comparable to the 'Gris until they bring out the M14 and then it might have the practicality but the 'gris will murder it for performance. And it will be £20k+ more expensive. Whats left? Caterham, Westy and Ultima. Lets be honest, not really production cars in that sense, as much as I love the R500 Superlight, we are talking track cars really. Nothing Ferrari or Lambo will stay with a 'Gris. Audi, Merc, Bmw, Aston, Jap w@ankfest stuff forget it. A 911turbo has the best chance, but as Simon said the other day, the new M400 would probably beat the current model even with X50 power and the 'Gris is in the same league. The new 911tt when it comes out in a cpl of yrs time will be in the ballpark, but again, we are talking £90k. (Got one of those on order also
) So, the 'gris offers us the fastest production car around for £52k (short ratio box option, and I believe at 7.9 to the ton, .1 up on the M400). That in my book is comparable to owning one of the legendary greats.
Im a petrolhead. Im a car geek and I love motoring histoy, and now Ive got the chance to mingle in it. Not some tuned up, after market special, but a straight from the door, factory car. Fastest of the fastest, best of the best. If I passed up this chance to live the dream how pathetic does that make me?
Besides those snotty nosed g1ts in the Ferraris need a lesson taught

Interesting feed back! Probably think you are in a minority with this view, most people love it. As for the sound, well, thats easily fixed. As for my own Tamora, most who have heard it agree its pretty much an awesome sound, knocks the pants of most other cars, including the 'gris!
fixed terrible spelling!

you say you didn't like the Tamora, and thought this would be an indication of the T350, yet you buy a Sagaris, which is a T350 with a wider track? and, of course the Tamora and T350 sharing the pretty much everything. Sounds a bit confusing from you?

No they dont. 300 ppl love it. That isnt most.
I can fully understand why so few ppl have "upgraded" from a Griff/Chimp to a Tamora. Its pointless.
DJC - you do like to slag off other people's cars don't you?!?
The Tamora and T350 are not that different to the Sagaris. I've driven a Sagaris on the track and on the road and yes, it was a bit quicker and had a nice exhaust note (but probably not much difference in performance to a Red Rose). But it is no way £12k+ better than a Tamora/T350. The Tamora has the bonus of the roof coming off too.
Now if you don't like the styling of the Tamora then fair enough, but we all know the exhaust note can be fixed to prevent it being so "wet sounding". Many people don't like the styling of the Sagaris. Each to their own.
As for calling it a 'gris - sounds a bit silly to me.

Unfortunatley I myself, a T350c, find you're explanation a tad odd.
'I was considering a red rose T350, so I test drove a Tamora' ?
Obviously the sagaris is a bit more than a high powered T350, but surely to compare the two you need to have driven both ? Gornler have a T350 with nitrons fitted which they reckon makes the car far more 'planted', and so to dismiss it so easily is very odd.
Saying all that though, if you can afford the sagaris, which you obviously can, then i'd take it every time over the T350.

Who's up for it and when?
And dont no smart alec even think they are holding it before 2nd week in July!
Where we all based?
There's always this meet, it was on as a sticky thread but must have fallen off www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=171012&f=7&h=0
Surely it's 'Sag' not 'gris, like Chim, Cerb and Tam, gris sounds like Griff!
Well thats because I dont hang an ego up on a car or regard it as a "pride and joy". At the end of the day it is just a tool to use. I use a car as transport and enjoy driving at the same time, but it certainly isnt an extension of my ego or pride at all. That's just pathetic.
As for whether the 'Gris is much different to the 350 and Tams? Well that was rather the point of my post. The 'Gris feels in a different league to the 350/Tam. The Tam felt boring. No different to driving a Mondeo.
At the end of the day, that's where its at. To me there was night and day difference between the cars and its my cash Im spending. Whether anybody elses ego takes a kicking over it is their own problem, but dont go bellyaching at me about it.
As far as the rest of the car world is concerned TVR havent produced anything worth bothering about since the Grif. Even the Cerby is only really vaguely known. The 'Gris will be the car that re-introduces TVR to the motoring world again. It just has that X factor.

I agree, the Sagaris is a tad special.
My point however was that you had not driven the T350, and yet this was you're only other consideration. Obviously, a T350 is going to drive different to a Tamora as one has the roof missing. Whereas the different between the T350 & the Sagaris less so.
As I also said before, if you walked into a showroom & were in the lucky position of not having to consider the finances then the Sagaris/T350 argument is a non-starter.

Enjoy your car sir - why not allow others to do the same without giving them a hard time.
Each to his own.
Look. The man asked, I said. Others dont like it, thats their problem. I aint in the business of moddle-coddling egos. I even warned ppl that the Tam owners wouldnt like it.
As I was signing up, I told Ben about my other idea of the Red Rose 350 and he said, yeah others had considered it aswell. I asked him what he thought given the choice and the consideration of the £10k difference in price and his answer summed up the deal for me. He said he'd been banned from driving the 'Gris cos he was putting too many miles on it. Nuff said.
I really cannot see why what I think of others' cars should matter one jot. I dont much care for Chims either if it bothers anybody.
Thanks for insulting my car (Tamora Mondeo), sounds to me like you have been taking lessons from the very Ferrari people you also chose to knock.
Funnily enough I would never mock another mans car, no matter what I really thought of it. Ultimately this is our hard earned cash that pays for these toys, its not gifted its hard graft that pays for it.

I wouldn't worry too much about what he says, personally, I wouldn't berate other peoples' cars and choices on a public forum, but, it takes all sorts; and I'm still very happy with my choice of car, which I also worked very hard for, and continue to do so
