Hi

Ive currenty got a June 04 Tusacn S. With the hot weather on its way and aproaching a year old I am concidering ordering a Tuscan S convertable but it seems im looking at the end of September for a delivery date. I want to change the car because my wife, who uses the car as much as I do, cant manage the Tuscan roof. Now I am assuming the Tam roof is carbon Fiber like our previous TVR, a Griff SE? The griff roof was very light and although a cow to get in the boot, Diane could manage it, no problem.

Has anyone here gone from a Tuscan to a Tam? I know the Tam wont be as fast as the Tuscan S but I suspect it handles better and am I right in saying its got the electronic steering rack thats in the Tuscan 2?

Advice and thoughs.

Nick

All other things being equal a Tamora is quicker around a moderately twisty circuit than a Tuscan S, and you might be surprised at how little there is between them in a straight line drag also.

Roof is pretty much the same experience as a Griff.

Hope this helps - as always, there's no substitute for going and driving one

Edited to add - yes, electric steering rack which is superb imo.

Thats what I wanted to here! Im due to drive a Tuscan 2 on the 14th at racing green, going to try an dhave a go in a Tam at the same time. My Tuscan spends 90% of its time on Welsh B roads so better on the twisty bits is a good thing, also I still find the Tuscans steering too pointy,

OK - if you're looking at B-road progress then the other thing you'll like about a Tamora is how communicative and progressive it is when it does start to break away at the limits of traction.

I got bitten by the Griff once on a wet summer day and was looking back up the on-ramp at the headlights of the following cars before I knew what happened (hence my PH name.... lest I forget, think about it ). I am told the Tuscan has similar tendencies though not having driven more than a couple of miles in one that's not from personal experience.

Can't you spec a new Tam with a 4.0S engine? Get the best of both worlds with that.

No,

Oh,The Tuscans S is sooo much more powerfull, dont kid yourself with the Tamora being quicker. I've had both, and the Tuscan is alot quicker...

Griff / Chim roofs are not carbon fibre - they would weigh a lot less if they were...is there really much difference in weight between the Griff roof and the Tuscan roof? Don't notice it myself, but granted I don't have a problem with either so haven't really given it a lot of thought.

Carbon look I believe. Could be wrong, but I don't think I am.

The Tam's handling is considerably better than the Tuscan (not sure about MK2).

Go for a Red Rose Spec Tamora (375 bhp and Sagaris/Tuscan S Brakes)

Drove them back to back and went Tamora.

I've driven both and have decided to move from a Tuscan to a Tamora. I may have waited for the Tuscan MkII convertible but I seem to be in the minority that don't like the design and style changes. For someone who doesn't partake in track days, etc. and only uses cars on the road the Tamora is as insanely fast and powerful as the Tuscan. The main difference being the Tamora feels more satiated than the Tuscan which I found to be a demon to keep under control.

So is it possible to spec one with an S engine then? I know there is a red rose but that I asume is a 375bhp version of the 3.6?

Only the Redrose 3.6 (375bhp), not the 4.0 Redrose(405bhp).
