I collected my new Sagaris last saturday, having placed my deposit with the factory in December 03,and suffering several broken promises of delivery for march/june and even August last year !
Never mind, having owned a couple of TVRs previously,i knew i needed to retain a sense of humour if i was enjoy the ownership experience.
like everyone else,i have read all the mags, and watched fifth gear etc,and obviously was very much looking forward to collecting my car.
GTS Viper blue, cream hide, red seat belts and calipers, and a trick momo steering wheel....she looks great, and first impressions( whilst i am carefully running her in)is that she will go great aswell !
I have no idea how most of the functions work within the car,or how to check the oil however,as even though i have just parted with £54k,TVR have not actually produced a handbook on the car yet !!!!
I can get a glossy "launch souvenir"..but nothing to inform me how my new car works ..amazing.
i left the showroom with the predictable big grin, and decided to give the car a decent run and get a few miles on it,as i need to get it run in,and first serviced ready for this years Le Mans trip.
Nice afternoon, getting a bit warm in the car,put the airconditioning on...does not work !
Oh well, fancy a bit of music, check the CD player...odd.. where should that be ?....looks like they forgot to fit the multi player then !!
I have a few rattles and squeeks, there is some paint missing on the front spoiler, the passenger door does not open properly every time, the rear window is letting in some water, and the rubber seals to the bonnet are starting to distort....all rectifiable.....but my grin is not as wide as it was !!

It was the handbook for the owner!

1. The car should not have left factory like that. Perhaps the spoiler damage was done in transit?
2. Dealer should have picked things up at PDI. Mine had a crap PDI and the 1,000 mile service became the PDI IMO. The dealer did fix stuff then though.

Did your dealer acknowledge the paint and other problems before you took the car (maybe they said they'd fix them at 1,000 miles and let you take the car for now?).

I really don't think TVR have improved quality since my car was built a year ago.

We need photos though - not seen one in a nice blue like GTS blue yet.

So what happened to the dealer checks then?

And presumably you had a good look over the car yourself before you "accepted" it? I do with every new car I collect whoever makes it...

How come they and you missed all these problems?

Very disappointing for you by the sounds of things and totally unacceptable.

I do though know exactly how you feel from when I bought my Cerbera 4 years ago as I had many of the same problems. It leaked, was missing several bits of car, wing mirror fell of etc.

You save up your hard earned you count off the months weeks and days and then the ultimate let down as you get sold something which was literally thrown together. Personally I couldn’t wait to get rid of it as after the first couple of months never would enjoy owning the thing, I flogged it and swallowed a hefty loss.

The dealer did their best but were never really at fault as it was very apparent that there was just not the support from the factory to the dealer.

This is not intended as some TVR’s are rubbish Porsches are better sort of response as frankly that one has been done to death already. To me this is unacceptable because I do not believe that Morgan would sell you something like that and I know damn well that Noble don’t as I’ve driven several and have been very much impressed by them.

TVR needs to sort it out otherwise I fear the future of the low volume British sports cars will not be yours to enjoy.

Good luck with her none the less

I collected my Saggy just over 3 weeks ago, it's now got 2,400 miles clocked up and is going great. Only had a couple of niggles, misting front light and rubber bonnet seal coming away. I've shown it to a couple of T350 owners who've commented on several improvements in quality inside. Just love the car and hope you folks manage to get your issues sorted in a timely and professional fashion.

There are a few pictures of mine here...

Take it back to the dealer who IS responsible. Ask for a handbook. Ask him to show you the functions of the car. Ask him why, after paying for a PDI, it was not undertaken competently.

Some pointers in the short term - assuming the incompetent that sold the car does not redeem himself.

4000 rpm max for first 1000 miles.
Revs limited to 3000 until oil temp above 40 deg C - always.

Enjoy the car and dont let the initial delays spoil your enjoyment, nor the comments of those that don't understand the product but love to have a pop at every oppurtunity.

Probably one out of a t350,which is what has been offered to me by my dealer until the factory supposedly get there act together.
in fairness to the dealer, they were very embarrassed and frustrated about it.

items like the paint on the spoiler were obviously picked up on collection, however issues like the aircon not working, windows leaking, doors not opening correctly only become apparent when you have spent an hour or so in the car.

Sounds all too familiar...... I had that sort of response about 12 months ago when I picked up my car....

You sure do need a good dealer to own a tvr!

Mine doesn't have a hand book either. But having run a t350 for a few months I don't feel I'm missing much.

The car is superb to drive though, certainly in a different league to other better made cars. Certainly there is room for improvement on build issues and that's a travesty because you'd think that was the easiest thing to fix. Making the car dynamically superb and thrilling to drive, you'd think, would be the hard bit. Certainly a lot of manufacturers with huge budgets miss the mark on a regular basis. But unless we get behind the company and support it they'll never get the chance to improve things.

Also until the run in period is over we can't enjoy all the spectacular engine has to offer. The best is yet to come for Sagaris owners.

My, that Rolex blue Sagaris doesn't half look good. Top choice.

I'll send the car back to Blackpool on TVR Powers truck to have both issues taken care of.

I've also ordered the wheels that were seen on the black Saggy at the Belfry, they can fit those at the same time. Still waiting for a date for these, spiders just don't do anything for the car IMHO.

I have had no major or even minor problems with my Sagaris, however two of my friends who had theirs from a dealer down south both had to return theirs to the factory because of very poor quality and from what I saw of one a very rushed and poor PDI.

On the maual front, my dealer has given me a copy of the handbook, so if you have not got one talk to your dealer they are about.....

Noticed the misting problem of the headlights has carried over to the Sag as well, so no change there then.

Totally agree, they just don't shout at you like the rest of the car does.
