My 2 wheels are at the refurbishers 'till Tuesday, so today, I put the axle stands in the 'centre girders' of the car and took off the other 2 wheels to give them a bloody good clean (now like new!), But I didn't stop there, oh no, I scrubbed and cleaned all the chassis frames, as well as the suspension 'till they also looked like new! I then put the rear wheel back on to try out the Shiney Nuts and to see if those locking wheel nuts I bought from Ebay worked, they did, and the nuts look great!
Had to take the wheel off again because I forgot to buy some copper grease!
Then,, I got underneath the car and cleaned the floor pan! I am very grubby, but the car will look great once I have my wheels back!!! lol Have I gone too far this time???
(I also thought how nice that exhaust baffle from Silverstone would look too!!:scratchchin:)

I assume you have more than 2 axle stands, otherwise the car would have been a bit wobbly

Cleaning the chassis isn't too sad, cleaning the floor pan is too sad. Only snails and squashed hedgehogs will get to see it.

I was actually thinking of removing my wheel nuts one at a time and cleaning the bit of the wheel you can't get at with the nut in place, not half as sad as you

LOL, I do have the Tam 'tetering' on on only 2 axle stands! , but it's only the front that's raised, not the rear (used a trolly jack to remove the rears)

Chris,

I can sympathise with your adiction. I wash under my wheel arches every time i clean the car, including the chasis legs etc... also polish the visible bits of the chasis and inside the wheels when i do the body. Sad git i know, but it does look great when done.

That's OK. From your post I read that the whole car was on axle stands, and people normally don't have more than one set. Hence my concern. 2 stands for one end/side of the car is OK.

Hows the front end respray holding up Chris?
Bet your not tailgating for fear of marking the new paint work
I been without my car for a couple of weeks now, it too is having the front nose and wings resprayed to sort the stone chips out. Should pick it up tomorrow.
At last the dirt will have been removed from behind the front light covers as these have been removed and resealed - hopefully

The front respray's holding up brilliantly! , There a few little chips, but nothing I didnt expect, especially being so close to the road, the little pot of touch up paint is great too!
Where are you haveing your's done?

I'm having it done at Carizma, they specialise in tvrs, theyre on the same estate as TMS in melton mowbray - ive heard excellent reports - but will see for myself tomorrow.
Then its in at TMS to have a 2 degree retarded chip fitted and setup to hopefully get rid of the pinking at high revs.

The post I started was meant to be a fun tongue in cheek poke at some of us who love our cars (maybe a little too much sometimes!)

Now have the Shiney Nuts on, they do look nice, does anyone know what the bar is in this picture, the one with the 'concertina'd' rubber grommit thingie on it? I'm not sure if there's a slight leak there or not!

Could be the oil pressure sender leaking slightly?

Looks like the steering rack/track control arm and its associated gaitor to me. If this is the drivers' side then it could be a leaky oil pressure sender which is kind of just above it. It does look like something above the gaitor oozing onto it.

Don't worry about the gaitor, clean it off and it'll be fine. It is designed to keep grease in so oil drips won't hurt it.

BTW, you need to clean that upper wishbone better. Gunk or similar degreaser is best, with some of the other half's old T shirts

Gaitor! That's the word that eluded me! lol, This is on the passenger side, but there doesn't seem to be anything of note directly above it!

Am all 'cleaned out' now, I did clean it again after the pic, I think I must have been mega bored and in need of a little more exercise than walking the dogs! It worked, I'm pooped! lol

PS, I'm telling Chan what you said about her T shirts! lol
