Had this warning come up twice today, first time, like most of us 'veterans', I put it down to a glitch, as I did accelerate very hard before this warning, but half and hour later, it came up again!
The water temp was fine, between 70-85 on this very hot day, but I took it very easy on the way back home, any ideas anyone, on what it could be? I have checked the coolant level, which is fine and there are no visible leaks anywhere, the garage floor is bone dry! Does this seem more than likely to be a faulty sensor?

Cheers

Chris

Just got in from a super day out, you don`t know what you have been missing Sounds like a sensor Chris being a veteran though, you should be able to tell by the feel and smell if the engine is overheating
Get out and give it a thrap man

Cheers Tony (just got back from watching Batman Begins), I too am pretty sure its a faulty sensor, as the temps seemed fine, and were going up and down as normal during the drive (about 75 on the M5, and around 80-85 in slow moving traffic) Is there a seperate water sensor, other than a water temp sensor? Or is my ECU being paranoid? It wouldn't have anything to do with the internals of the engine, would it??

The only other thing a can suggest is to see if the fans cut in? and note the dash temp. Failing that you will need a rebuild

LOL, Cheers!!! Yep, fans cut in fine, temp goes down, went for another long drive today, all's fine! Temp stayed below 90, and around 80-84 when fans kicked in No silly fault warnings today, bloody cars!!! lol

Below 90 you were lucky mine spent most of it`s time around 94/95 with fans cutting in like crazy, boy was it hot today I struggled to get the car out of 1st to 2nd today it was very stiff it happenend a couple of times and clutch seemed to bite very low
i hope this is not a sign of the dreaded dodgy Sp6 clutch

I think the Tuscans do get a wee bit hotter due to there being no bonnet vent. Hope your clutch is ok! I found that I couldn't get out of 2nd today due to the usual numpties in front with their Daewoos/Nissans etc
