Will a dealer replace a windscreen covered by an insurance policy? I don't really want my local Autoglass dude anywhere near my car!

To be fair I had my windscreen replaced by National Windscreens, and they were really good.

They kept me informed of how it was going and they got their top guy on it from Manchester. He came to Essex for two days and stayed in a hotel for the night.

It was great service and a great job for £50 on my insurance!

Mine got scratched badly at some point during the care of the dealer, they replaced it at no cost to me. Even then it was an Autoglass fitter (or a similar competitor). He did as good a job as you could expect. Just make sure whoever does it has experience with these types of cars/screens.

If you got it replaced under insurance would RAC Auto Windscreens and the like use an original TVR screen? I doubt there are any 3rd party variants, are there? I am guessing it wouldn't be a same day fitment like if it was a Mondeo or something?

You guess correctly. TVR factory supplied only (or from whoever supply TVR anyway).
