OK, Have been thinking very long and hard the past few weeks about my ownership of my Tam. I have spent thousands upon thousands of pounds keeping the Tam in tip top condition, and during the 10K miles I have done in her, she's never once let me down,, trouble is, I find I am not enjoying the experience as I once did, and the cost of ownership is now almost on a par with the enjoyment. Most of the problems lie in our roads, and never being able to fully, well, not even close to using its full potential, and when I can, I'm paranoid about the engine failing, so I find I'm always treating the car with kid gloves and hold back more than I should!
trouble is, I do still really enjoy the experience when I'm driving it, its just any other time I find it hard to justify!
Has the heat got to me!!!!!!!!!

Chris..I've read your posts with interest.

This must be just an interim hiatus.

You know you love her really.

Chris - SNAP OUT OF IT MAN!

I've always had the impression from this forum that you are one of the most enthusiastic Tam owners, and you've probably spent more on your car than most of us - perhaps you should stop spending so much adding bits to it, and just get out and drive more

There are plenty of good roads out there that you can really experience the car on if you go at the right time, and have a bit of luck. Just use the car more, and you will find the opportunities to properly enjoy it.

Move down to Sussex and come on some Sussex runs

Gee’s Chris if you’re not getting any driving enjoyment out of driving a TVR.
Then you’re certainly not going to it in another car unless you re-mortgage the home, wife, kids and sell all the family heirlooms.
Stick with it I've never looked back since buying mine.
Next you're be saying you're going to trade it in for a Porsche or BMW

LOL, Cheers guys, feel a lot better, sorry about the post, it does seem very down! I have just picked chan up from work in it, and it was great in the datk with the roof off and, finally, empty roads!!! (even managed to get the back to step out a couple of times!!!)
I guess, if I'm really honest, what made me think was the fact that Chan cancelled the order for her Clio 182, just because I made a passing comment about if the engine goes, we wouldn't have enough to pay for it to be fixed, so Chan cancelled so I wouldn't worry about driving it!! (what a wife!) But then, obviously, I feel as guilty as hell then, as we were both looking forward to the new Clio (great little car on the test drive!), but I guess we're damn lucky we have the Tam, and could even afford it if I lost my job even! Trouble is, if we'd have bought the Clio, one of the cars would have to go if I lost my job, but then, I guess the same applies to most of us, I'm sure sometimes I worry too much!
Sorry about the post, I just feel a little guilty for Chan

PS, Alex, I may take you up on the offer of a Sussex run one day!

Chris, don't give up!

A lot of you know I spend 60% of my life travelling. There are two things that I love come home for, obviously the other half and the car. I really only get to drive it when I am home every 2 weeks, but then I always go for a blast. I am carefull but I still enjoy a spirited drive.

Yesterday I was karting near Betws-y-Coed in snowdonia so had a cracking drive up on Saturday despite the weather being terrible. Yesterday had a wonderfull drive back as well. I rarely drive on the motorway and I stick to A and B roads. I find I get to use a lot of its performance, I dont really speed but I enjoy getting there. Go on, drop the kids with some relative and take the mrs on a driving holiday to blew away the blues!

I see you as the biggest champion of the Tamora I know!

regards

Simon

The problem is, what would you replace it with?

Pity about the Clio, cracking little cars. Maybe get a nearly new one and save a few bob in the kitty for the Speed Six.

wow!, thanks guys, I feel very silly now . I do love the Tam to bits, it's the best car I've ever had, full stop! Sometimes, just sometimes, I feel I keep it to the detriment of other things, but Chan has put me right, and gave me a severe telling off for being so silly! For the record, the Tams been more reliable than the Chim I had before it, and has always started first time. (would be gutted if anything were to happen to it!)
You're right about the Clio Trefor, we'll look for a nearly new one later in the year (got such a good deal on a new one though, was quite proud of myself!! lol)

Chris, I think I may have said this to you before, but FFS, get yourself booked on Megahoon! If you want to realise just why you bought the Tamora, that should validate your outlay. Bring Chan as well, and have a lovely time with some great people and great places. Do it, man!!

I know , we did see if we could go this year, but we have no-one to look after the kids , so we'll endeavour to make it for next year (assuming the ecomomy picks up a tad!)

I agree with nubbin, and do a driving training course (like 1st Lotus or there's various others that people have recommended) and/or or a track day or two - there's a whole new world of driving enjoyment to be had.

Get it on the track. Great fun. You might even get out of second gear...

There is more chance of a TVR going wrong if you treat it with kid gloves.

Thrash the bollox out of it once in a while. It will put that smile back! Find a good B road and go for it ;p

Agree 100% its great fun. You'll really find the benefits of the CR box on a circuit too.

Thanks guys , I'll book some track days I am sure I'll love it! I don't always treat the car with kid gloves, I actually go over 3.5K rpm yesterday, overtaking a van!!!

(kidding, stayed in 1st, and still overtook!)

Have told Chan we can have a marine aquarium , I loved the odd looking Box Fish when perusing a garden centre (lets rock!!!) last week!

Oulton Park, Sat 8th July. Call the car club and see if there are any spaces left.
