HI
,
I think you'll find that quite a few of us on here started with Chims. Most of us were apprehensive about the change, but by golly its worth it! You only have to look at the Rolling Road charts in this months Sprint to see what a performance increase you'll get from going from a V8 to a S6!

Welcome!
As Chris says, there's lots of us. I went from a 4.0l Chim to a Tamora, and the difference is incredible! Much better handling is the most important thing, plus although straight line real world speed isn't that much better than a 5.0l Griffmaera, the power delivery is far more controlled and useable, because the torque delivery is very linear and progressive.
The interiors are much more user friendly too, with a lot more leg room (especially for passengers!) and the hood folds right down so you can actually use the rear view mirror. The seats are better although could do with more lateral support, and there's no Heath Robinson central door opener. Plus, no wood on the dash, digital dash, and floor mounted pedals. the clutch is a proper easy to use AP Racing twin plate "push" type, which means it is light in action compared to the muscle crunching chimeara clutch.
Get out and buy one - you know you want to!

Bought a Tam as a first Trev and it is seriously sweet. Thought about going thorugh the range but having driven them I decided to wait and go straight for Tam.
I have driven all sorts of performance cars and nothing puts a smile on your face like a nice evening, a clear A road and a warmed up Tam....enough to give a bloke the TVR horn.

I'm an ex-chim 450 owner who went for the T350 (same engine as the Tam). On the test drive I thought there was something wrong with the car because the lack of low-end torque.
However, having had the 350 for a few weeks now I absolutely love the S6. If anything it actually sounds better, which I wasnt expecting, and the extra power is intoxicating. It wakes up at around 4.5k and blasts to the redline, unlike the V8 which pulls from 3k and looses steam above 5k.
The suspension and chassis are also much improved. Getting back in the chim (which I still have) is like driving a cadillac by comparison.

I too went from a 4.0 Chim to a 2004 Tamora. No regrets at all...love it. Put a sports exhaust on it and it sounds at least as good as the V8!!

I have a Tamora on order, changing from a Chim, and was thinking about a sports exhaust where abouts in Wiltshire are you please? The Hobbit (Karl the TVRCC RO) has just brought a T350T and is also thinking about a sports exhaust. I am in Malmesbury.

I'm just so nervous about the engine....
I went from a 4.0l Chimaera to the first customer Tamora in January 2002.
28,000 miles later I'm still loving it and haven't had an engine problem.
For the record the Chimaera overheated twice and I've had two problems in the Tamora which have needed Recovery.
Cheers.... Andrew

im thinking of doing the same but short of money so if you no anyone who wants a yellow chimaera and wants to swap or part ex with a yellow tamora please let me know.p.s sports exhaust done(too loud, burst ear drum when i went to rockingham through that tunnel onto the track)
Is about as lower cost as has been seen for a Tam and is from a well known dealer with an excellent reputation for seeking out good cars.
Went from a 4l Chim to a Tam.
Totally different car. Very nice design especially the electronic engineering that's gone into the dash and systems controls - very modern.
I still maintain that the only way is up for these cars.
They are well undervalued at the moment.
I have said it before and I'll say it again - Tams are the next Griffs.
Go see one in the flesh then drive it, then buy it.
