Yep.. those fantastic people at Racing Green informed me my Sagaris arrived today. Will not be picking it up for a week or so (PDI, tracker, paint protection etc).. although might have to go and see it :D..

I do have a question..

I know Racing Green will go through it with me.. but appreciate any advice on the running in period. My 'excellent' Tamora was not new.. so never had to do it..I imagine the Sagaris is no different from the T350 & Tamora... so appreciate everyones experience, suggestions, do's & dont's...

What a great day today is....

Re running in... Just follow the manual taking it easy with the revs and throttle (but not to easy).

Currently running in my T350c, the worst part is when you get some guy in a M3 giving it the large and you can't put your foot down (but then again I think we’re all above that )

I was told to progressively extend it until you reach 2000 miles. Which I´ve done. In fact I still haven´t hit the rev limiter yet but have now floored it to 7000.

The manual says keep it under 3500 revs for the first 350 miles and never more than that until it´s properly warm. They say that labouring the engine is worse than anything, ie it would be better to do 4000 revs in first than 2000 in second up a steep hill for example.

Ignore the mickey takers and read all the road tests again. The sagaris is a well sorted rocket ship!

Enjoy!

Just been to see it (sorry no time to take pictures Smirnoff).. love it, collecting it next Saturday after everything has been done. Not much time to look around it - did notice.

a) to open boot its now the button under number plate.
b) they have started fitting the Tuscan seats.

Chris, she did not have much choice, although I know she prefers the Tamora & T350.

The Pits, thanks.. good to know not to labour the engine.. the 1st 1K will be done very quickly I think.

And then what? Give it the large one and wait for the bill??

2000 miles is too soon to start to rag the car if you want to get the best from it IMO.

No this isn't true. To truly, truly rag it you should wait for the 6,000 mile service where they use better grade oil.

Up till then I would wait until 1,000 miles then start build on the revs. I used to take it to 5,000 rpm from 500 to 1,000 miles then add 500 rpm every 250 miles after that until I got to 7000 rpm (on occasion) up to 2,000 miles. This was easily done by programming the rev limits on the pod console.

After that I gave it some but not constantly.

I would let the car warm up for 5 minutes in the morning and then gently does it until the oil temp is up to speed (and to let the gearbox oil warm up) then give it the spuds.

I saw 165 on an unamed Windsor bypass

It was 3am and NO ONE was about. Bloody hell no one died so obviously speed doesn't kill!

PS. I had the car up to 7,000 miles with no problems with the engine whatsoever.

You could with a blowout at 60...

I guess it was still innapropriate but the fact remains that speed is not an issue unless it's used at the wrong time...

Its your car - if you want to ignore manufacturers running in advice - its your call.
