howcome the sagaris was only a fraction of a second faster than the tuscan? for a start the sagaris was built with track racing in mind with its wider track etc, but thats before you get to the fact it has 50+ bhp more than the tuscan.
i was expecting high 1.22's
It is being suggested on the other forum that perhaps the Tuscan had the 4 ltr lump in it.
Judging by the amount of 'Oh yes...oh yes's it obviously gave JC that 'orgasmic' feeling ...
Perhaps that slogan wasn't so bad after all...

It was nearly half a second quicker than the tuscan which I'm sure did have the same engine in it. To know how good that is I'd have to drive the track because half a second is a lot round brands indy and nothing round spa for instance. I'm pretty sure the top gear test track is nothing like spa!
I also think the stig's lap was far from tidy and he was on the grass for the last two corners, so I'm sure he could have gone quicker still with a tidier lap.
What hasn't been mentioned (what's the matter with you lot these days?) is how fantastically composed and balanced the car looked on the limit. Clarkson certainly seemed to be enjoying himself and was right to point out the wobbly bonnet as it will hopefully put more pressure on tvr to sort it. But overall it was a fantastic piece on the car and confirms what people have been saying on this forum for ages that the Sagaris is a superb handling, well sorted car. Cause for a little optimism I reckon.

JUST TO RUB IT IN, THE TUSCAN WAS A STANDARD 3.6!!! I HAVE IT ON ASSURANCE FROM PEOPLE IN THE KNOW, AND IT WAS ONLY .2 OF A SECOND SLOWER. SOON TO GET A MK2 S WHICH WILL PROBABLY BE JUST AS SLOW AS THE TUSCAN AND JUST AS FAST AS THE SAG!!!!, DEPENDING ON THE DRIVER OF COURSE. THEY ARE ALL GREAT CARS.

It doesn't rub it in Almack.... ![]()
If Sagaris owners had wanted Tuscans they would have bought them instead.....
Performance is not the only reason for choosing the model......
As you say....they are all great TVRs...![]()

I agree, I think the sag is great, but it has no 'sun roof', so i had to go for the tuscan but with the 's' engine. I would expect the sag to be the better handeling car though.
To me on some corners the car was going to slow, the first corner was taken to narrow on the apex and so the stig had to correct it without whipping the rear around. The hammerhead was appalling, thats where ABS would have helped, again taken to slow and accelerating off the rev range. At the follow through it looked like Stig lost his bottle as that seemed off the pace. Still a very respectable time though. Now off to finds me some moneys, working it out it would take me 5 years of saving just to get a tamora!
